Day 2. Money.
On top of the APPT9 Macau Main Event title it’s what everyone is here for.
Today we should well and truly make it down to the money with only 188 players remaining and 59 guaranteed a payday.
It’s Day 2 here and the action recommences at 2pm local time. Players are already making their way into PokerStars LIVE Macau before the field is cut down again today.
Of the 188 returning this afternoon, it’s China’s Jia Liang who sits atop the chip leader board. Yesterday he bagged up 198,200 to surpass Day 1a leader and fellow countryman Zhifeng Yao who will start today second in chips on 174,700.
While we’ve already lost a bunch of strong players, the field is still swimming with sharks. Tournament crusher and ACOP Super High Roller champion Steve O’Dwyer is still in the running, he’ll start today with 50,900 in chips. MPC21 Red Dragon champion Zhenru Xie will also pull up a seat today with a stack of 50,000. Joining them will be Chane Kampanatsanyakorn who emerged victorious in last year’s APPT Seoul Main Event. He’s currently 10th in chips with 133,800 and will be chasing another APPT title this week.
It’s predicted the bubble will burst today with the top 59 players claiming a minimum of HK$43,600 (US$5,624). They’ll all be looking for the top prize, however, a healthy HK$2,525,000 (US$325,701) to the eventual champion.

Play will begin with blinds at 600/1,200 (100 ante) and average stack at 52,446. Tournament Director Rex Cheong is on the microphone now to announce the shuffle up and deal as we get underway here for Day 2.
