We’ve lost one of our more notable players from this APPT9 Seoul final table. Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin caught a bad beat from Poland’s Daniel Demicki to finish in fourth place.
It folded to Demicki in the small blind who moved all in with enough to cover Lin, and she made the call for her last 260,000 in chips.
Lin was in good shape to double up and the dealer presented a safe flop 8♣7♥J♦. The turn 2♦ brought a diamond sweat and the river Q♦ brought a flush for Demicki to seal Lin’s fate. She takes home KRW50,490,000 ($46,158) for her efforts.
This is Lin’s third biggest cash to date, her first when she won the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon event in 2012 for $110,077. With her score in Seoul today she eclipses half a million dollars in live earnings.
Joining Lin on the rail is the recently eliminated Daniel Demicki. He opened the action with a raise to 50,000 on the button before dominant chip leader Jason Mo moved all in from the small blind. Bryan Huang folded from the small blind and Demicki went deep into the tank.
“Good luck” Demicki said with a sigh after a moment, and tossed in a chip to represent a call. Jason Mo quipped back “You can’t fold your way to victory” and the players revealed their cards.
It was a big flip and the board ran out 6♥10♣4♦7♠5♣ with Mo fading an ace or jack to knock Demicki out in third place. He earned himself KRW63,100,000 ($57,687) here in Seoul.
With only one previous live cash to his name, a 25th place finish in the APPT Macau Main Event last year for $7,094, Demicki adds a huge score to his poker resume today.
So now we’re down to heads up.
It’s monster chip leader Jason Mo with 4,219,000 in chips up against Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang with 581,000. The tournament will continue with blinds at 12,000/24,000 and a 4,000 chip ante.
The players have just stepped away for a 15 minute break before the heads up match commences. Regardless they have both locked up KRW97,820,000 ($89,428) so far, and will now battle it out for the top prize of KRW165,590,200 ($151,384).
