APPT9 Seoul: Set to start

April 09, 2015

Seoul. The capital of South Korea and home to ten million people. A beautiful city rich in over 2000 years of history.

Poker players will be looking to make history themselves in Seoul this week on the next stop of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Season 9.

Off the back off a great Aussie Millions series earlier this year, poker hopefuls will flock to the Paradise Walkerhill Casino this week with their eyes set on the APPT9 Seoul Main Event. Last year saw 256 players take part to make up a prize pool of KRW685,363,200 (~$625,000).

Season 8 was a story of redemption as Thailand’s Chane Kampanatsanyakorn claimed the title and the KRW150,000,000 (~$137,000) top prize, after finishing as runner up the year before. It’s unknown if he’ll be back to defend the title, but between the Team PokerStars pros, international visitors and online qualifiers, there is sure to be some fierce competition.

Players will have eight events to choose from on this leg of the tour. With deepstack, PLO, turbo and high-roller events, the schedule offers a good variety and caters to different bankrolls.

This stop will culminate in the aforementioned KRW3,000,000 (~$2,700) Main Event, which runs with two Day 1 flights. Commencing today at 12:00pm local time (GMT +9), the Main Event will play through until Sunday where a new champion will emerge.

Aside from the exciting poker action, players will be relaxing in the world-class hotels and restaurants, or getting out and exploring what the city has to offer. Whether it’s
discovering the street markets, visiting museums or exploring an ancient palace, Seoul is sure not to disappoint.
