Home / Uncategorized / Battle of the Planets: bigbluffzinc picks up the pieces in $12K victory

The first one to the final table this evening would be the last one standing. Our final two would enter the last table at much different times as AndyUK18 was the last person to claim a second round victory in tonight’s $50,000 Battle of the Planets Triple Shootout freeroll. But, bigbluffzinc smashed the second so fast, the other eight tables still had a minimum of four players playing! $12,000 taken away by the June champ bigbluffzinc who let AndyUK18 do the dirty work of eliminating player while sitting on the chip lead. Read the road to victory below.

The first round would end with Rb)bolov and latenthreat dueling for the final spot in the round of 81 and assurance of taking away $195.00 today. With the blinds at 125/250 ante 25 latenthreat min-raised from the button as Rb)bolov covered and shoved for 5,360 as latentthreat made the call for slightly less with a pair of ducks 2♥ 2♣ . The killer deuce next to the ace in the door A♣ 2♦ 8♦ Q♣ 7♦ would knock Rb)bolov down to 270 chips. Those chips were donated on the next hand as 80 other players gathered up their belongings for nine new tables in round two.

bigbluffzinc wasted little time in securing the first final table seat knocking out all eight opponents in under an hour. While bigbluffzinc did not final table the SCOOP 2012 Event #29-H after ending day one third in the chipcount, the Supernova is assured a shot at a title tonight.

After Tino_Sp finished off dombomain33 in 11th place, all eyes moved to Table 6 where AndyUK18 was trying to fight off the aggressive TiltFish14 for the final open seat. Both sides would survive big all-ins with their tournament life on the line but it was AndyUK18 who would battle back and grab the last seat. As the blinds moved up to 150/300 ante 25 the pair shoved preflop with TiltFish14 covering. AndyUK18’s ace high 10♦ A♣ nudged out TiltFish14’s K♦ Q♦ for the 13,310 chip pot on the all-low 3♣ 4â™  2â™  8♦ 8â™  board and took the rest of the fellow UK player’s chips on the subsequent hand to startup the final table below:

Seat 2: le vla enfin (1500 in chips)
Seat 3: martinez92pl (1500 in chips)
Seat 4: Tino_Sp (1500 in chips)
Seat 5: bigbluffzinc (1500 in chips)
Seat 6: AndyUK18 (1500 in chips)
Seat 7: FAIANO89 (1500 in chips)
Seat 8: bencb789 (1500 in chips)
Seat 9: Sam_2four (1500 in chips)

martinez92pl would try to rally the other eight players for a nine-way chop worth around $4K. But, other than the active railbirds, martinez92pl would not receive many replies except for a few dissenters.

A quick, but standard ending

Set over set never goes well for one player. Today that player would be Sam_2four after raising to 60 chips during the opening 10/20 blinds with pocket sevens 7♦ 7â™  receiving two calls from Tino_Sp and le vla enfin. Tino_Sp would lead out for 118 from the big blind after the 7♥ Q♦ 9♥ flop getting Sam_2four to raise with bottom set to 310. No more finesse from Tino_Sp shoving for 1,440 as Sam_2four quickly called all-in to see Tino_Sp’s flopped set of nines 9â™  9♦ and exit in ninth place ($775.00).

le gone

Shortly after the tournament moved into the 50/100 blind level, shorstcked le vla enfin needed chips in a hurry to stay in contention for the that $12K prize. AndyUK18 made a min-raise from early position at it folded around to le vla enfin in the small blind holding pocket fives 5♥ 5♣ and only 675 chips total. The shortstack three-bet all-in as AndyUK18 quickly called with jacks J♣ J♦ as both watched the Q♦ 3♣ Q♠ 10♠ 2♦ board miss both players to award le vla enfin $1,200.00 in eighth place.

Shortstack slayer

Knocking out le vla enifin was not enough for AndyUK18 as four hands later another Battle of the Planets contestant was sent off. martinez92pl pleaded with the table for nearly duration of the Polish player’s final table for an even chop, but was eliminated short of receiving $4K after shoving 854 chips from early position holding 10♥ Aâ™  into AndyUK18’s pocket kings K♦ Kâ™  . A king in the middle of the A♦ K♥ Jâ™  5♣ J♥ flop was enough to send martinez92pl home in seventh place ($1,700.00).

PlatinumStar dimmed

VIP PlatinumStar FAIANO89 tried to extend the stay today after clinging to a shortstack for nearly three levels. With the blinds still at 50/100 FAIANO89 would three-bet for 500 chips over Tino_Sp’s min-raise. However, bencb789 jumped in from the big blind with a shove for 822 chips to force FAIANO89 to call with Kâ™  10â™  . Pocket jacks for bencb789 J♥ Jâ™  stood tall on the 9â™  4♥ 7♣ 7♥ Q♦ board to win a redeeming 1,748 chip pot and knockout FAIANO89 in sixth place ($2,200.00).

Kicker issues

Shortly after the hourly five minute break Tino_Sp tried to shove J♣ Qâ™  in small blind past bigbluffzinc’s A♣ J♦ in the big blind and the 4♣ 9♣ 4â™  K♥ 9♥ board provided finality to Tino_Sp’s night in fifth place ($2,735.00).

The bully is back

AndyUK18 is making players pay for sporting a shortstack tonight. With the blinds moving up to 75/150 and just three hands after Tino_Sp’s elimination, AndyUK18 would send another one to the locker room. After min raise from the cutoff, AndyUK18 would call lesus86’s shove for 735 chips holding pocket aces A♣ A♦ . Cruel twist for lesus86 who did hold a viable hand in pocket eights 8♥ 8♣ but not good enough to take the 1,620 chip pot after 2â™  9♦ K♦ 4♦ 2♦ rained diamonds. lesus86 collected $3,350.00 in fourth place.

Letting Andy do the dirty work

Despite bigbluffzinc sitting on the chip lead, AndyUK18 continued knocking out the other players. Five hands from lesus86 leaving the table, AndyUK18 would min-raise from the button as bencb789 shove 1,263 chips in the middle from the small blind. bigbluffzinc tired from watching all this action took a quick nap as AndyUK18 called with pocket fives 5♣ 5♦ . A flip against bencb789’s A♣ Q♥ was over expediently as a five landed in the middle of the Kâ™  6♣ 5â™  3♣ K♦ board to end bencb789’s night in third place ($4,500.00).

No deal? Let’s GAMBLE!

Neither player was content with sitting back and waiting for big hand versus big hand to play itself out. Both players were almost equally aggressive and had each other all-in with a chance to win the entire $12K first prize. But, due to the fateful hand below, only one would take it away:

Cracked aces A♥ A♦ for AndyUK18 stemming from bigbluffzinc’s flopped trips and rivered boat 5â™  Qâ™  on the 5♦ 5♣ 10♣ 8â™  Q♦ would knock AndyUK18 down to 1,668 chips. Those chips would go into the middle on the next hand preflop with 6â™  Q♣ . bigbluffzinc’s Q♦ 7♦ proved the mightier as the seven kicker played on the 10♦ 4♦ Aâ™  5♥ 8♣ board to win the June Battle of the Planets Triple Shootout Freeroll title!
