There’s a good reason the English language PokerStars Blog team are here in São Paulo. The BSOP Millions is the largest poker tournament of the year for an entire continent; there’s no way we could have missed it.

The R$3,500 No Limit Hold’em Main Event field here at the Sheraton WTC has been absolutely enormous. First, there was Day 1A back on Friday. That attracted 715 players, and when all was said and done the man who bagged the most chips was Wilson Darrella. He turned his 30,000 starting stack into 267,300, and led the 282 survivors.

Then came Day 1B on Saturday. Another huge turnout of 885 players were whittled down to 353 at the end of play, and we now had a new overall tournament chip leader in Adrovan Rodrigues, who managed to spin it up to 281,000. Rodrigues won a SCOOP event earlier this year, and has already won a NLH Turbo Knockout side event here at the BSOP Millions.

And finally, we had yesterday’s Day 1C. It was the largest flock of players yet, with 914 taking their shot in this one. By the time the day was done, the new Day 2 and overall chip leader was Leandro Medeiros. The São Paulo local managed to increase his starting stack by more than ten times, ending play with 309,700. He’s the man everyone is chasing right now.

Day 2 brought all of those survivors together for the first time, with play kicking off at 2pm today. There are plenty of big names still in the mix, including Team PokerStars Pro and local legend Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos. He finished Day 1C with a respectable 201,800 – the sixth largest stack.

Also still alive in this one are Twitch extraordinaire Jeff Gross and LAPT9 Chile champion Rodrigo Strong. We’ve become used to seeing Strong on the European circuit recently, so it’s a refreshing change to see him grinding in his home country. He took 152,600 into today.
