If you want to know what it takes to win a Platinum Pass, you couldn’t ask anyone better than Jennifer Carter of Toronto, Canada. She’s one of just three people who have won the most coveted pass in the poker world twice.
Last year Carter, who usually plays micro-stakes tournaments on her mobile phone, defeated more than 21,000 players in a freeroll to win a $25,000 seat at the first PokerStars NL Players Championship in the Bahamas. She returned home after the tournament and binged on all 60 hours of PSPC coverage. Then she won her second Platinum Pass this October, working her way from a $2 Mega Path tournament through three more steps to earn a seat at PSPC 2 in Barcelona next August.
This morning viewers throughout Canada got to know Carter when she appeared on The Morning Show, a national entertainment and lifestyle show that airs weekdays on Global News. Hosts Carolyn Mackenzie and Jeff McArthur talked with her about her love for poker, how she got started, and her top tips for beginners. The whole segment took place around a specially designed PokerStars table commemorating her two Platinum Pass victories, which is going to make a nice setting for Carter’s future home games with her friends.
