The European Poker Tour (EPT) will visit Sochi once again next year as PokerStars confirmed the dates for the fourth trip to Russia of Europe’s leading poker tour.
EPT Sochi 2020 will take place from March 20-29, 2020, at the opulent Casino Sochi, in the mountain ski resort of Krasnaya Polyana. As ever, the centrepiece will be a Main Event from March 24-29, with a buy-in of RUB 175,000 ($2,725 approx.) and a guaranteed prize pool of RUB 150 million ($2.35 million approx.) alongside a host of other side events.
Satellite tournaments to the Main Event are running now on PokerStars, with packages valued at RUB 285,000 ($4,460 approx.) That includes seven nights’ accommodation as well as travel expenses, in addition to the Main Event buy-in. (Seat only qualifiers are also running.)
PokerStars’ flagship live tour first visited Russia in 2017 when Sochi appeared on the tournament calendar under the PokerStars Championship branding. What started as a 387-entry event swelled to 867 one year later for what was the first official European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event in the country.
Sochi hosted another EPT Main Event in March 2019, won by Israel’s Uri Gilboa, and the same venue has twice also hosted EPT Open events. Most recently, China’s Yi Ye won the EPT Open Main Event, while Vadim Gayduk won a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) in the “Moneymaker’s Road to PSPC” tournament.
