Like panning for gold in the river, the €25,000 buy-in means only the very elite can be distilled through. No table here is easy, in fact most are downright scary as I see the Team PokerStars Pros Barry Greenstein and Vanessa Rousso sitting next to each other, while Alexandre Gomes shares a table with Devilfish and Bruno Fitoussi. Alexander Kostritsyn, PokerStars ShootingStar Florian Langmann, James ‘mig.com’ Mackey and the Team PokerStars Pro Ivan Demidov are all sitting in a row on another table.
Arguably the most difficult table features the new WPT champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Erik Seidel, Thomas Walhroos, Tony G, Mike McDonald and Marcus Golser. The Team Pokerstars Pro Peter Eastgate is sitting next to the fast-talking Mark Teltscher, the latter making a good start when he bet 9,000 on a 10♥5♦10♦K♦4♦ board and was called by the player in seat six. Teltscher said, “My favourite card is the K♦, my second favourite is the A♦,” as he turned over A♦3♦ for the nut flush, his opponent turned over 6♦6♥, mucking the hand.
At that moment, Michael Binger arrived at the table. “Better late than never,” said Teltscher.
“We’re only about, what seven minutes into the level?” replied Binger as he sat down. “Usually I’m two hours late…”
