The European Poker Tour has already set sail on its eighth season, and now it has announced there is a new captain at the helm. This afternoon, Edgar Stuchly took over as the new EPT president.

Stuchly will be a familiar face for many people on the EPT. He brings 20 years of experience with him from his most recent spot as Head of Poker for Casinos Austria. While there he managed poker rooms at 12 casinos, founded the Casinos Austria Poker Tour, and was recognized as Poker Staff Person of the year.

“The EPT is the richest and most prestigious poker tour in Europe, and I’m delighted to be joining a much-loved and well-run live tour,” Stuchly said. “The goal now is to take the EPT to another level, in terms of improving the experience for players and expanding the tour into burgeoning poker markets in Europe. It’s a big challenge but one that I’m relishing.”

EPT chairman and founder John Duthie has nothing but nice things to say about his company’s new president. “Edgar’s extensive live poker experience and vision for the EPT eased his appointment significantly. I’m sure that players, fans and anyone connected to the EPT will feel the benefits of his leadership over the coming months and years,” Duthie said.

Stuchly’s first event as EPT president comes later this month at the always-popular stop in Barcelona, Spain August 27-September 1.
