‘It’s everyone’s favourite tournament. You get deep stacked play but it’s done in a day and you always get two or three of your friends on your table. There’s lots of hands, lots of gamble and everyone’s trying to get unstuck,’ said Steve O’Dwyer, looking like a big kid in a candy shop.

O’Dwyer played four tournaments yesterday, busting them all, not to mention reloading in the €50,000 Super High Roller at the beginning of the festival. For a player who has won more than $2,000,000 in live tournaments since the beginning of 2011 you have to accept you’re not going to bink everything. A first place payout of €105,000 certainly wouldn’t go amiss though.

O’Dwyer is giving himself a decent chance at winning that – or at least some of this festival’s buy-ins – as he currently sits four of four in the €5,000 turbo behind Nikolaus Jedlicka, Donny Stern and Bryn Kenney, all of whom have at least €28,570 locked up.

By the rail stand Scott Seiver, Dan Smith and Andrew ‘LuckyChewy’ Lichtenberger (to whom O’Dwyer speaks at the break finding out the consensus is that he passed too light to a shove). Lichtenberger, who is a gentleman by all accounts, tries to assist by pointing out some players to the PokerStars Blog but that only ends in confusion given a Daniel ‘known as Donny’ Stern debacle.*

*As it turns out it’s spelt Dani but pronounced ‘Donny’.

The payout structure for the 15-minute a level frenzy is as follows.

1. €105,000
2. €66,150
3. €39,090
4. €28,570
5. €21,050
6. €15,030
7. €13,530
8. €12,030

By the time this article hits the server the turbo could be finished. It started with 62 players and was down to four in less than six hours. Results will get posted up in the side events page when we get them.

UPDATE: Indeed it did. Bryn Kenney went on to win. Details of a chop, if one took place, will be detailed when the results are posted.
