Home / Uncategorized / EPT Copenhagen: Redefining the table of death

It’s the start of day 1b at the EPT Scandinavian Open at Casino Copenhagen, Denmark. It’s traditional at this point to run through a few details of the tournament, set the scene with a stroll around the city and spew purple prose onto the page to whet the appetite for the day’s action. But screw that: just take a look at the line-up for table one today:

Seat 1 – Steffen Dam
Seat 2 – Pontus Almsenius
Seat 3 – Lars Christiansen
Seat 4 – Jesper Hougaard
Seat 5 – Jukka Pietila
Seat 6 – Jaoui David
Seat 7 – Michael Tureniec
Seat 8 – Annette Obrestad
Seat 9 – Gus Hansen
Seat 10 – Bertrand Grospellier

To translate: that’s two bracelets in seat four; EPT London runner-up in seat seven; WSOP-E champion in seat eight; Danish poker sensation in seat nine; and ElkY in seat 10. Yowsers.

Let’s just let that sink in for a while before we start running through some of the other competitors today, and maybe dusting down some of that purple prose. There’s still a few minutes before play is due to start. A minute’s silence, please, for Messrs Dam, Almsenius, Christiansen, Pietila and David.
