The two-day €500 event has just finished with Simon Appleby clinching the title after he beat Tonny van Eck heads-up. Appleby, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the United Kingdom, was supported by his son as he won the first prize of €28,680. In the final hand, Appleby’s A9 beat van Eck’s J9 on an A3826 board to finish off the tournament. As a consolation, van Eck picks up €19,070 for his runner-up spot. Michael Azria was third for €13,950 while Bryan Paris (11th – €2,500), Sergey Tikhonov (12th – €2,190), Ondrej Vinklarek (15th – €1,970) and Andrey Gulyy (28th – €1,120) all also cashed.

The €1k Pot-Limit Hold’em event is down to just seven players but only four are getting paid with the winner receiving a slightly nicer trophy than usual (as this is one of the ‘Championship’ events) as well as €8,520 in prize money.

Over in the evening’s Deep Stack Turbo, which has a Pot-Limit Omaha format tonight, there are 67 entries including Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki. Nine places will be paid a minimum of €568 with the winner receiving €5,750.

The biggest side event of the day is the €1k 6-Max event, which is up to 140 runners so far including two-time EPT winner Vicky Coren Mitchell, former EPT Monte Carlo winner Nicolas Chouity, PokerStars Snowfest champion Marius Pospiech and EPT runner-up Pierre Neuville. This event is scheduled to be a one-day tournament but it’s not expected to finish until the early hours of the morning. There will be 20 places paid a minimum of €1,750 with €32,250 for the winner.
