Such has been the story of the day so far, with the Norwegian stacking close to 900,000 at the first break.

Annette Obrestad

The tournament information board shows 94 players remaining, with Obrestad the likely chip leader. That will be confirmed when the tournament elves return to their bunker with the sheets bearing the official counts. They will appear here as soon as we have them.

Those counts are also likely to feature another Norwegian, Andreas Hoivold, riding high. Hoivold won a 525,000 pot with queens against A-K and said afterwards that anytime he has won his coin flips in a tournament, he has gone on to take the title. As a previous winner on the EPT – in Dortmund on season three – Hoivold certainly has the pedigree, and now he’s claiming the luck too. We will see.

In the meantime, take a look at how the video blog team set up day three, then feast your eyes on how Team PokerStars Pro and a few PokerStars qualifiers spent a day in Monte Carlo. Warning: helicopters, go karts, and William Thorson’s blue sweater involved.
