It’s day 1b in Warsaw, and that means a day 1b kind of field. Who knows why it happens, but as ever there will be more players–more recognisable ones at that–and probably even more action than yesterday.

That’s going to take some doing because although small, yesterday’s field was awash with action. Carter Phillips took his place at the top of the tree, but the likes of Luca Pagano also got deeply involved and bagged up more than 100,000. Something similar will be the target of the 130 or so who are likely to play today.

Pagano and Phillips took time to talk to our video bloggers about their successful start to this event…

Among those chasing Phillips and Pagano will the be following superstars. From Team PokerStars Pro, we’ll have Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Katja Thater, Florian Langmann, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Dario Minieri, Theirry van den Berg and William Thorson.

To break with convention (and to hasten us through this thing), I really am going to give this lot no introduction. Not only do they need none, you’ve heard it all before. Rest assured we’ll be following them.

We also welcome JP Kelly and Michelle Orpe into the PokerStars livery. The first of those is a World Series bracelet winner on both sides of the Atlantic. Kelly won some $1,500 pot-limit hold ’em jewelry in Las Vegas in June, and added a £1,000 no-limit bling in London in September. He’s a PokerStars sponsored player here.

Orpe is best known as the the new presenter of the EPT Live television coverage, but can play this game too. Watch out for her level-by-level video blog updates; we’ll be tracking her through the day.

Dominik Nitsche is a PokerStars qualifier here in Warsaw, a tag he has ridden to great success in the live arena over the past year. Nitsche, known as “DOMinator” online, won the LAPT Argentina event, his first live cash, and last week came second in the High Roller event in Marrakech. He’s definitely one to watch.

Shaun Deeb is also here. Another who really needs no introduction, the online tournament phenom (WCOOP winner’s bracelet, tournament leaderboard force, multiple major online successes, etc., etc.) is still searching for that elusive huge live score. It won’t be long.

Welcome too to the French trio of Ludovic Lacay, Antony Lellouche and Pascal Perrault–stalwarts all–as well as the Belgian bracelet winner Davidi Kitai and the new Russian sensation Vitaly Lunkin.

Andrea Benelli made the final table here last year, and he’s back to try again. Nikolai Senninger made the final table in London last week, and he’s hoping to continue the roll.

That just about wraps it u… Oh, sorry. Did someone mention Scotty Nguyen? Gus Hansen?

Stay tuned.
