Home / Uncategorized / EPT Warsaw: Tough draw

Day 1b is now underway, and as predicted yesterday there’s been an influx of players from the furthest flung regions of Europe to give this EPT event a characteristically formidable line-up.

The Amsterdam Master Classic event wrapped in the Dutch capital at the end of last week, and the planes from Holland to Poland were packed all day yesterday and this morning with the cream of European poker.

In addition to the Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Dario Minieri, Luca Pagano, Isabelle Mercier, William Thorson, Katja Thater, Alex Kravchenko and Marcin Horecki in today’s fields are the likes of the German Shooting Stars Johannes Strassman, fresh from a final table at EPT London, and the EPT Barcelona champion Sebastian Ruthenberg.

The popular French duo Pascal Perrault and Thomas Fougeron have pony-tailed it here. Perrault won EPT Vienna in season one, while Fougeron began life on the EPT as a fresh-faced PokerStars qualfier in Barcelona on season two, before becoming an established name on the circuit. His finest moment came in Dortmund during season three when he came back from a single chip to make the final table.

Other returning EPT champions today are Roland de Wolfe (Dublin season three), Michael Martin (London season five), Mark Teltscher (London season two) and Peter Jepson (Warsaw season three).

Some are likely to follow William Fry, vanquished yesterday, out of the door, while others will be hoping to follow Gavin Griffin and Arnaud Mattern into day two. The coming seven hours of play will decide it.

Here’s the video blog team’s introduction to day 1b, and remember there’s plenty more where that came from over at PokerStars.tv.
