Two more levels are in the books in the High Roller, marked by two more eliminations as Ole Schemion and Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel have joined those sent railward thus far today.
Meanwhile Duhamel’s teammate Daniel Negreanu continues to lead, tweeting during the most recent break that he’s been following the EPTLive webcast, then adding a postscript regarding his play today:
Oh and this final table I've played some of the best poker I've ever played. Totally zoned in
— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) September 7, 2013
Schemion started short, then got off to a hot start today knocking out both Raoul Rafos (ninth) and David Benefield (eighth), then crippling Richard Yong before the latter was eliminated in seventh.
But the next stretch went less well for the German who soon was short again and all in with A♣J♠ versus Jean-Noel Thorel’s 9♦9♣. The board ran out nine-high, and Schemion took €90,700 for finishing sixth.
Duhamel’s elimination came shortly thereafter, another preflop all-in that saw the 2010 WSOP Main Event champ racing with A♠K♦ against Thomas Muhlocker’s 10♥10♣.
The 9♥J♠K♥ flop put the Canadian in front, but after the 2♠ turn the Q♥ on the river filled a straight for Muhlocker to knock out Duhamel who picks up €118,000 for fifth.
Four remain, with Thorel and Muhlocker second and third, respectively, and start-of-day leader Joni Jouhkimainen fourth. But they have some ground to make up versus in-the-zone Negreanu as play proceeds.
