Pasi Sormunen knew he’d done well to reach fifth place, but may now be thinking he departed too soon.

Sitting with king-seven of diamonds he opened for 400,000 in early position. Luca Fiorini found ace-king and raised from the small blind. Sormunen might have been expected to fold, at least Jason Mercier in the commentary box thought so. But Sormunen was tanking and suddenly announced he was all-in.

“Oh man,” said Mercier.
“Uh oh,” said Sormunen.

The Finn has previous when it comes to ballsy moves. At EPT London earlier this year he tried to bluff Ruben Visser with ace-high (Visser had a full house), and now he was trying to force Fiorina to fold ace-king. That was never going to happen.

The cards were turned over and the stacks counted, Fiorina being narrowly ahead. And yet Fiorina looked concerned, perhaps with the potential hassle that goes with booking a church wedding.

The flop was nine high but brought two diamonds – 9♦ 4♦ 8â™  .

Fiorina looked offended. How could this be happening? The queen of spades hit the turn. Sormunen needed a diamond or a seven, but got another queen instead. It was all over.
