Day 2 is often referred to as ‘moving day’ as, after the slow pace of Day 1 action, stacks to make a run at this thing get built. But yesterday was, more accurately, ‘moving out day’ as after the dust had settled on six 75-minute levels just 292 of the 906 players who had advanced to Day 2 remained.
But, there are still a slew of stars still in with a shot at winning a slice of the €7,255,600 prize pool. Here’s who to watch out for on Day 3:
Martin Finger, Germany: Start of day stack, 502,300
The EPT8 Prague and EPT10 London Super High Roller champion enters the day third in chips with more than half a million in his stack. That’s more than three times the average and the unflappable German is a lock to make the money and add to his $4,390,899 in lifetimes winnings. Crazily that total is only just sneaks him inside the top 10 all-time German money winners.
Oliver Price, UK: Start of day stack, 352,400
Price had his breakout result when he finished third at EPT10 Deauville back in January. That cash earned him €271,200 and in the intervening eight months he’s gone on an absolute tear, winning the same amount again with various live cashes. His biggest cash since Deauville came when he finished fifth in a $5,000 no-limit Hold’em event at the WSOP. He’s also on the feature table during the first level.
Dimitar Danchev, Bulgaria: Start of day stack. 263,300
The EPT9 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure winner has gone on to prove that win was no mere fluke with numerous deep runs since he got to hold that novelty cheque with $1,859,000 written on it. He came oh so close to winning a WSOP bracelet this summer when he finished second in a $1,500 no-limit Hold’em shootout event.
Jan Heitmann, Germany, Team PokerStars Pro: Start of day stack, 203,000
The amiable German is the best positioned Team PokerStars Pro as Day 3 gets under way. His stack of 203,000 puts him above average and gives him a great shot at securing his first EPT Main Event cash outside of his native Germany since 2012. Andre Akkari, Grzegorz Derkowski and Grzegorz Mikielewicz are also flying the Red Spade today.
Dominik Panka, Poland: Start of day stack, 139,500
Thanks to a hand right at the end of Day 2 the reigning PCA champion has a playable stack coming into Day 3.

Thor Hansen, Norway: Start of day stack, 102,600
The legendary Norwegian is proving that old guys can still cut it with the young guns, although he finds himself with a below average stack at the start of Day 3. But with his experience you just know he’ll find a way to cash.

Throw in the likes of Josh Prager (320,700), Max Pescatori (294,000), Randal Flowers (268,000), Sylvain Loosli (256,200), Kent Lundmark (237,700), Ryan Fee (222,900), Ryan Fee (216,400), Dan Shak (188,400), Dario Sammartino (180,800), Konstantin Puchkov (175,000), Kevin Stani (169,100), Dimitri Holdeew (132,300), Mike McDonald (130,200), Maxim Lykov (115,700), Kimmo Kurko (109,000), Davidi Kitai (108,400), Shannon Shorr (96,900), David Lappin (93,600) and Ole Schemion (82,400) and it should be a fantastic days poker.
