Quan Zhou was tapping on his phone, then something weird happened. The noise, well, it was unmistakable.

The expression on everyone’s face was “did you hear that?” because we all did. It was a kind of noise made when two people — who I’m sure love each other very much – are in private together. Or sometimes in front of a video camera.

Zhou began to laugh and pressed a few buttons, a little more urgently this time. Was it a ring tone? Maybe video message sent deliberately to cause this little awkward moment? Whatever it was he’d got everyone curious.

Andre Akkari, who seemed keen to make sure this wasn’t some noise in his head, looked over at the mike operator hovering near the table.

“Did you get that?”

“No,” he replied the mike man. Ironically he was the only person there not to hear anything.

“You didn’t?”

“No.”

Akkari now turned to the dealer, who was biting her tongue and trying to maintain a façade of composure.

“She saw it!”

“No I didn’t!” she snapped, losing that composure.

“Yes you did. I saw you see it!”

Well yeah, she confessed to that.

With order restored, or at least some semblance of it, Akkari glanced over at Zhou, who was still tapping some buttons.
“He’s got some good stuff,” he said.

The rest of us couldn’t possibly say.
