More of those shiny EPT silver spade trophies were won last night here in Barcelona as the last events of the festival are playing out. As the Main Event begins its official final table and the High Roller works its way down from a field of 30 returning for today, let’s recap our latest round of winners and preview what’s to come on this final day.

The big €500 NL (Event #57) with three starting flights wrapped up last night, and from 476 entries it was the Romanian Florian-Dimitrie Duta coming away with the win following a three-way deal at the final table. Duta walked away with €39,000 from that one, with runner-up David Von Schnehen earning a bit more (€42,900) thanks to the deal

Bryn Kenney was also at that final table, finishing sixth, with Neils van Alphen (11th) and Mikael Andersson (16th) among the deep finishers.

The €500 PLO Hi/Lo (Event #64) also found a winner last night in France’s Thomas Cazayous who earned €10,400 for topping a field of 78. Antony Lellouche (fourth), Seamus Cahill (sixth), and Knut Johanssen (11th) were among the cashers in that one.

Luigi Curcio also grabbed some hardware last night by taking down the €1,000 NL Turbo (Event #67), ending with all the chips from a 245-player field to earn €50,260.

Norbert Szecsi (fourth), Jose Carlos Garcia (fifth), and Emrah Cakmak (ninth) were among the many top names going deep, with and EPT10 Barcelona Main Event champion Tom Middleton (10th), Laurynas Levinskas (11th), Michael Ferrari (12th), Benny Spindler (16th) and Kenny Hallaert (17th) also getting to the last two tables.

There were a couple of other events to report on from yesterday, both of which stopped shy of finishing.

The €2K NL Deepstack (Event #65) played down from 188 players to just 16, with Spain’s own Andoni Larrabe returning to a big chip lead with 815,000, more than twice the stack of nearest challenger Jenya Gavrilovich of Belarus (385,000). Jonathan Little, Georgios Zisimopoulos, Stephen Chidwick, and Jason Wheeler are also still alive.

And over in the €200 Saturday Night SuperStack (Event #66) they have also resumed play this afternoon after stopping shy of the finish. There were 312 to start, the bubble burst when 47 were left, and a total of 42 players made it through to today’s final day of play.

Poland’s Remi Wyrzykiewicz — who made the EPT11 Malta Main Event final table (finishing eighth) — returns to the chip lead today with a stack of 513,000, putting him ahead of Stanislav Smeljov (449,000), Martelli Armando (383,000), and Ricardo Morais Caprichoso (357,000) at the top of the counts.

In addition to those latter two events finishing up, there are four new ones on the schedule today — three turbos and a hyperturbo — with the €5K NL 6-max (Event #69) the one occupying our attention the most with a host of big names taking part.

About an hour in and nearly 90 have registered so far, with Joao Vieira, Felix Stephensen, Daniel Dvoress, Pierre Neuville, Dimitar Danchev, Erik Seidel, Emil Ekvardt, Vladimir Troyanovskiy, Davidi Kitai, Stephen Chidwick, Ivan Luca, Byron Kaverman, Ole Schemion, Martin Finger, Fedor Holz, Steve O’Dwyer, and Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov just some of the many familiar faces around the tables. FC Barcelona’s Gerard Piqué is back in action as well, taking his shot versus one of the festival’s tougher fields.

More to come this afternoon and evening on all of the side action from Barcelona. Remember you can review all the results over on the constantly updated side events page.
