And on to Day 1B of the Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final. Following yesterday’s opener we expect the bulk of the field to take their seats today, a much larger field to take on the eight levels of play before the field unites tomorrow.

It’s a typical morning in Monaco, with the sound of birdsong and the breeze in the trees drowned out by the noise of V8 engines and the gasp of their superchargers. It’s bright and sunny, the light catching the waves just beyond the window of the Salles des Etoile, which will shortly be out of sight to everyone for the next ten hours.

These are considered “small”

Yesterday Martin Kabrhel set the high water mark at 167,800 chips. He’ll be the man to beat. Field should be suitably all-star to feature a number of candidates capable of doing that.

Who that is will be known soon enough. Statistically the player who will be crowned the EPT Grand Final champion on Monday has yet to play a hand. Or have they?

That’s all to come. Play starts at 12 noon.
