In a remarkable piece of eye-catching co-ordinating, the TV production team have managed to pick a feature table of particular imaginative colour, contrasted perfectly with darkness.

There are eight players at the table who, when pictured from above, seem to show all four colours of the day-glow palette used for leg warmers in the 1980s. Not only that but those in between, including the dealer, are dressed in black, making the colour come to life like in a non-biological detergent commercial.

Pick your side…

In the powder blue corner is Frenchman Michel Abecassis, while two seats to his right sits Calvin Andersen, in a luminous green hoodie and sunglasses of the same colour frame.

Completing this Dance Hits 1983 Party Album is Simeon Naydenov, wearing a pink coloured sweater, while Denis Sagorski is in seat two, wearing a bright yellow hoodie.

Were there ever to be a poker musical it would start in a scene much like this. The new romantics in their pastels riffling their chips, led inevitably by a player called “Danny”. And the pressed shirt gang, in their blacks and leathers, thumbing their mobile phones. Their baritone would probably be called “Zeke”.

It would come to this, a face-off between brightness and darkness around a single poker table, with a couple of power ballads thrown in: “Who’s doing the raising? Who’s doing the calling?” Well there’s the strap-line already.
