He was also runner-up in the Eureka Poker Tour high roller tournament at EPT Prague in December, worth €59,200. He won a €1,000 no limit hold’em bounty event at EPT Deauville in February. This is Alexander Helbig’s third EPT event and he has already enjoyed some success in the German capital this week. At the start of the festival, Helbig took part in the inaugural €1,100 Berlin Cup and finished 11th for a €10,500 pay day. That was his best live result at the time but now he is guaranteed at least €77,000 for making the main event final. Other results include winning a €250 no limit hold’em turbo at the recent Masters Finale event in Dortmund, presented by the EPT.

Seat 5: Lasse Frost, 28, Arhus, Denmark – 3,700,000

Lasse Frost has been playing poker for seven years, mainly just for fun, and even though last August he decided to take a year off from his job in economics to play poker full time, he insists he will return to work after the summer even if he wins here in Berlin. Frost has been playing live poker for quite some time, but this is his first ever EPT event. It has already yielded his biggest live cash to date. Frost considers himself both a cash game and tournament player. He lives in his native Denmark with his girlfriend.

Seat 6: Pascal Vos, 25, Netherlands – 1,750,000

Pascal Vos says he hasn’t had much experience playing poker live and that this is his appearance on the European Poker Tour. Even so, he has been playing for a couple of years and is now a full-time professional, making the final table of WCOOP this year.

Seat 7: Daniel-Gai Pidun, 36, Lippstadt, Germany – 5,250,000

Daniel-Gai Pidun rarely plays tournaments but has had a decent conversion rate whenever he has tried. He takes a week’s holiday every year to play EPT Berlin and has cashed in both of the past two season’s events: last season he came 17th for €20,000 and two years ago he bubbled the final to finish ninth for €45,000. They are his two best live results to date. He also competes in tournaments at Casino Bad Oeynhausen near his home. Most of the time though, Pidun is busy running a cell phone parts company with his brother Thomer, as well as spending time with his family. Thomer also plays poker and in 2009 the pair found themselves on the same final table in a €200 Bad Oeynhausen tournament. Thomer finished second and Daniel-Gai fourth.

Seat 8: Roman Herold, 26, Germany – 3,050,000
