It’s silly season at EPT Deauville, where the main event has entered level 28 and still 11 players remain. We have been playing for more than ten hours and the EPT Live commentators are now singing songs to one another and lapsing into delirious gibberish.

Sorry, what? They’ve been doing that since day one, you say? Ah, OK. I stand corrected.

The point still stands though that things are getting a little weird. Because of the slow-down we have witnessed today, the blinds are rapidly catching up with the players. Even the tournament chip leader Remi Castaigon has only 61 big blinds, while the average is 35. On the EPT Live feature table, matters are even more extreme. The biggest stack there is that of Jeffrey Hakim, but his is only 45 big blinds deep.

As discussed earlier, events so far this season have been lasting between 31 and 34 levels, with Sanremo at the quicker end of that and the PCA at the longer. For a while we thought we might end up being swifter than the Italians, but now it seems likely we’ll be more dawdling even than the Caribbeans.

We are only six levels away from that higher mark, which is 540 minutes of play. We need ten players to be eliminated to find a winner, but no one is keen to bust any time soon with the big money looming into view.

Over the other side of the ropes, the High Roller continues with its quicker pace. They too are down to 11 players after two entrants bust at the same time to burst the bubble. One of those was Adrian Mateos, the young Spanish player failing in his attempt to be the youngest person to cash in an EPT High Roller*.

But that field is still absolutely stacked: Bryn Kenney, Jonathan Duhamel, Davidi Kitai, Vojtech Ruzicka, Kevin MacPhee, Timothy Reilly and Steven Silverman. Top of the pops – and absolutely crushing that event – is Martin Jacobsen, the habitual EPT main event bridesmaid.

Martin Jacobson, all the way this time?

That’s second place locked up then. Who wants first?

Throughout the day, our live coverage will be on the EPT Deauville main event page. And you can also watch it on EPT Live on PokerStars.tv. But there’s also the High Roller playing its second day simultaneously. Tune in to that too.

*Probably.
