Around a third of the starting field managed to make it through the first day’s play, 41 to be precise, but just 12 of them will get paid with €365,300 for first place.
Mercier, who is chasing an incredible fifth million-dollar year, leads the field with 415,300, well ahead of the 137,800 average. Should he go all the way he’ll have most of the €434,712 that he needs to tick over into seven figures. And there’s always a couple of €2k turbos tomorrow…
