Eureka Poker Tour Bulgaria: Day 3 Level 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 & 29 updates (blinds 40,000-80,000)

June 26, 2011

2.30am: Idan Greenberg wins Eureka Bulgaria
Idan Greenberg had ground his way back into a 55,000 chip lead when the following hand occurred. He limped the button, Milan Rakic made it 195,000 and Greenberg shoved, Rakic took his time but he made the call.

Greenberg: J♦J♣
Rakic: 9♣9♦

2.10am:Milan Rakic doubles through Idan Greenberg
This heads up battle continues to swing back and forth. This time it was Milan Rakic who was all-in for around 1.4m and at risk. He held A♦9♣ to Idan Greenberg’s A♠6♣. The board ran out 7♣10♦9♠Q♠5♦ and it’s now 2.6m to Rakic and 2m to Greenberg. — NW

LEVEL UP: BLINDS 40,000-80,000

1.55am: Idan Greenberg doubles through Milan Rakic
Idan Greenberg was all-in for 1.3m with K♣8♣ and Milan Rakic called with A♠7♣. The board was 5♣10♦3♠2♣Q♣ and Greenberg made runner-runner flush to double up and re-claim the chip lead. — NW

1.30am: Rakic running away with it
Since his double up Milan Rakic has extended his chip lead and now has 3.3m to Idan Greenberg’s 1.3m. — NW

1.10am: Milan Rakic doubles through Idan Greenberg
From the button Milan Rakic raised to 130,000 and Idan Greenberg called. The flop was J♠4♥3♦ and after Greenberg had checked in the dark Rakic bet 180,000, Greenberg then moved all-in. This sent Rakic – who had 1.029m behind – into the tank but he eventually made the call.

Rakic: J♣8♠
Greenberg: 6♦3♥

The turn was the Q♥ and the river the 2♥ and Rakic now has 2.6m to Greenberg’s 2m. — NW

1.03am: Back from the break
The two players are back in their seats. — NW

12.48am: Break time
Players are on a 15 minute break. — NW

12.45am: Greenberg wins another big pot
Idan Greenberg now has a 3.2m to 1.45m chip lead over Milan Rakic after winning a sizeable pot. Pre-flop Greenberg limped and Milan Rakic made it 140,000 total, call from Greenberg. The flop was 9♠2♥K♠ and Rakic check-called a bet of 160,000. The turn was the 8♣ and Rakic folded after Greenberg had bet 434,000. — NW

12.40am: Greenberg wins million chip pot
In the first significant pot in a while Milan Rakic made it 110,000 on the button and Idan Greenberg called. On the flop of Q♥8♣9♠ Greenbeg check-raised Rakic’s c-bet of 130,000 to 400,000 and Rakic made the call. Both players checked the 2♠ turn, before Greenberg moved all-in on the 3♠ river forcing Rakic to fold.

After that pot Greenberg has roughly 2.8m to Rakic’s 1.8m. — NW

12.30am: War of attrition
Both players have taken to limping from the button a lot, most pots are being checked down to turn or river, where a small bet is taking it.

It seems that the longer this heads-up battle goes on the less either party wants to lose it. Put the kettle on, this could go long. — NW

12.10am: Greenberg ahead again
There’s been little action of note in the last 20 minutes but Idan Greenberg has stretched out to a 2.5m to 2.15m lead. — NW

11.55pm: Flush over flush
On the flop of a K♣2♣A♦board Milan Rakic bet 200,000 and Idan Greenberg called. Both players checked the K♥ turn before Rakic bet 245,000 on the Q♣ river, a bet Greenberg called. The Serbian turned over 10♣4♣ which pipped Greenberg’s smaller flush as he held 8♣5♣.

Rakic now has a small chip advantage. — NW

11.49pm: Crowded house
There are many people watching the final table play out here in the middle of the Grand International Casino. The rail is about five deep and the tournament has also made front page news in Bulgaria relegating a story about the Bulgarian president to a mere side column on page one. And I’m not even joking. — NW

LEVEL UP: BLINDS 25,000-50,000

11.45pm: Small pot poker
The last 15 minutes have seen a series of small pots played, with post-flop action usually being of the raise and take variety.

However, Ida Greenberg just won a 600,000 pot when he made a pot sized bet of 200,000 on the river of a 9♣2♣8♥7♣J♥ board with Q♦10♥ and got called by Milan Rakic. — NW

11.30pm: Rakic gets them back
I only saw the action from the turn but with the board reading A♦4♣4♦3♠ Milan Rakic checked to Idan Greenberg who bet 180,000, only for the Serbian to check-raise to 500,000 total, call from Greenberg.

The river wa the Q♥ and after a minute of so of contemplation including re-checking his cards, Rakic moved all-in for 1.19m (roughly a pot sized bet) and Greenberg folded. Stacks are back to even. — NW

11.20pm: Greenberg grinds ahead
Idan Greenberg has ground out a bit of a lead through winning a series of small pots that have not gone to showdown
11.15pm: Stacks now dead even
Idan Greenberg just took down a 500,000 pot by betting 150,000 with A♥6♦ on the river of a 5♠Q♥A♠7♣5♥ board and getting paid off. — NW

11.03pm: Milan Rakic doubles through Idan Greenberg
From the button Milan Rakic completed and Idan Greenberg checked his option. The flop was J♦3♠6♠ and Greenberg checked, Rakic bet 70,000 and Greenberg made it 178,000 total, call.

The turn was the 8♠ and Greenberg bet 225,000, call from Rakic the pot had now swelled to nearly 950,000. The 4♠ completed the board and Greenberg moved all-in and Rakic swiftly called for his last 704,000 turning over Q♠3♥ for a queen high flush, Greenberg could only muster 7♦3♣. The stacks are now 2.5m for Rakic and 2.12m for Greenberg. For the first time today Greenberg has lost the chip lead– NW

10.45pm: Erol Erfurt eliminated in third place (€19,400)
From the small blind Idan Greenberg raised to 93,000 and Erol Erfurt then moved all-in for around 1,000,000 from the big blind, Greenberg made a swift call:

Greenberg: A♠J♥
Erfurt: A♥4♥

Erfurt said: “Perhaps I make a heart flush,” referring to Greenberg’s earlier elimination of Stefan Ciuca. The flop was heartless though but it cam A♣2♠3♥ and Erfurt picked up a straight draw. The turn was the 7♣ and the river the K♥. The German shook the hands of Greenberg and Milan Rakic as he left the table.

There will now be a short break before heads up play begins. — NW

10.20pm: Three handed play
Very little has happened during three-handed play thus far. It’s been Milan Rakic and Erol Erfut who’ve been playing most pots. Current chip counts are roughly: Idan Greenberg (1.9m), Milan Rakic (1.45m) and Erol Erfut (1.3m). — NW

10.05pm: Georgi Harasimov eliminated in fourth place (€15,150)
From under-the-gun Milan Rakic made it 77,000 to play and Georgi Harasimov moved all-in 398,000 total with pocket sevens. Action was now on Erol Erfurt who tank folded what he said were pocket sixes. Back on Rakic he tanked, then tanked some more and then some more.

Eventually he called (some would call it a nit roll) with A♠J♠. The flop was Q♣J♣9♥ and the Serbian took the lead. The turn was the 10♠ giving rise to the possibility of a split pot, but the river was the 2♥ and play is now three handed and the title will not be going to a Bulgarian. — NW

9.55pm: Greenberg grabs more
The first significant post dinner break action saw Idan Greenberg make it 68,000 from the small blind, Georgi Harasimov three-bet to 154,000 from the big blind and Greenberg move all-in. After stacking up his remaining chips Harasimov elected to fold. — NW

9.50pm: No action
There’s been very little action at all in the first 15 minutes after the dinner break. Perhaps all four players are still in a carbohydrate induced coma. — NW

9.36pm: Final table profiles
During the break I uploaded profiles of the final table participants, click here if you’d like to know more about them. — NW

9.35pm: Back from the break
Players are back in their seats and cards are in the air. — NW

LEVEL UP: BLINDS 15,000-30,000, ante 3,000

8.35pm: Dinner break and chip counts
The players are now on a one hour dinner break and here are the chip counts of the four players who are left:

Milan Rakic, Serbia, 1,217.000
Idan Greenberg, Israel, 1,687,000
Georgi Harasimov, Bulgaria, 579,000

8.20pm: Stefan Ciuca eliminated in fifth place (€12,000)
In a blind on blind battler Stefan Ciuca got his last 18 big blinds in the middle in great shape with A♠Q♣ against chip leader Idan Greenberg’s A♥J♥. The flop though was 8♥5♥10♥ leaving Ciuca drawing dead.

As the dealer burned and turned the 8♣4♣ turn and river Greenberg was already busy celebrating with his rail, whilst Cicua shook his head in disbelief. The ‘Green Machine’ meanwhile rolls on and he know has around 1.8m — NW

8.15pm: Chip counts
Here are the current chip counts of the five remaining players:

Erol Erfurt, Germany, PokerStars Qualifier, 1,000,000

Georgi Harasimov, Bulgaria, 600,000

8pm: Erfurt earns one
From the button Georgi Harasimov made it 50,000 to play and Erol Erfurt made the call from the small blind. Both players checked the 9♥4♥3♦ flop.

The turn was the J♠ and after Erfurt checked, Harasimov bet 75,000, a bet Erfurt check-raised to 225,000. This sent Harasimov into the tank and he said to Erfurt: “Do you have two pair again?” Before stacking and re-stacking his chips in a manner that suggested he wasn’t quite sure what to do. Eventually he tossed his hand into the muck. — NW

7.45pm: Popescu Gabriel Petrica eliminated in 6th place (€9,800)
From under-the-gun+1 Milan Rakic made it 58,000 to play and Popescu Gabriel Petrica flat-called from the big blind leaving himself about 350,000 back. The flop was Q♥2♦4♥ and Petrica check-raised all-in and Rakic called:

Petrica: J♥10♥
Rakic: A♥A♣

The turn was the 10♠ and the river the 9♦ to send Petrica to the rail in sixth. He had avoided showdowns for much of the final table but two in quick succession and he’s out. — NW

Popescu Gabriel Petrica out in 6th

7.30pm: Erol Erfurt doubles through Popescu Gabriel Petrica
From the small blind Popescu Gabriel Petrica limped and Erol Erfurt checked his option in the big blind. The flop was 8♦Q♠6♣ Petrica led for 30,000, Erfurt made it 115,000, Petrica shoved all-in and after thinking for about three minutes Erfurt called all-in for about 350,000 total. On their backs:

Erfurt 8♠6♥
Petrica K♥K♣

The pre-flop trap from Petrica had gone horribly wrong as he’d been out flopped by Erfurt. The turn was the 9♠ and the A♠ completed the board. After that hand Erfurt is up to around 900,000, whilst Petrica slips to 400,000. — NW

7.20pm: Back from the break

Stefan Ciuca, Romania, 410,000
Idan Greenberg, Israel, 1,250,000
Georgi Harasimov, Bulgaria, 735,000

It’s still Idan Greenberg in the lead, here’s how he celebrated his knockout of Christian Penchev. — NW
