This years PCA looks fantastic, I’m really looking forward to it. Two years ago I was at the final table in the Main Event; unfortunately I busted in 9th. But it was still a very nice finish out of 900 players, although it is always very frustrating to make it that deep and bust out.
The following year I came back strong and with the dream to make another attempt at the win. But I was unlucky enough to get a serious problem with my eye. I didn’t leave the house we rented for the whole trip, and I wasn’t able to play any poker at all, so had I to cancel all the tourneys, which was VERY sad.
This year there are a lot of new and super-nice side tournaments.
For me, the Main Event is the best moment and the one I’m looking forward to the most, but there are tournaments for everyone this year: for small pockets and big pockets; for players that dont want to risk as much and for players that like the big buy-ins and the excitement of that. So, even if you don’t get lucky enough to qualify for the Main Event, I really suggest you still reserve a room and book a flight because there are so many nice tournaments and the hotel is fantastic!
The Main Event is what I’m really looking forward to come back and play. Hopefully I can make another deep run there, but with poker you can never be too sure. If I bust out, the tourneys I want to play the most are the 5k NL, 5k PLO and 2k PLO Heads Up. I like all the side events, but I’m used to slightly larger buy-ins so obviously I prefer them, and I like Omaha so I’m really looking forward to playing in some of the Omaha events.
But I don’t want to set the plan up too much beforehand because it is still my wish to make a deep run in the Main Event, and the dream would be to win it. I will wait to make my decisions about what to play after I know how I finish the Main Event!
I’m hoping PCA 2011 will be a little bit longer again, maybe two weeks, so that I get the time to play a lot more of the events. But this is the first year for PCA being so big, and I just see so many positive things about it. I think PCA this year will be a fantastic trip: I can’t wait to arrive in the Bahamas!
Good luck to everyone that is trying to qualify. I hope to see you all in the Caribbean!
