Over 350 players are now involved on Day 1a, but there will need to be a big field tomorrow if it’s to break IPT records. The IPT’s main event buy-in has changed several times over the seven years of the tour having been €630, €700, €1,000 and €2,000 at different points. This means that the current biggest field does not actually claim to have the biggest prize pool and there are three IPT events that have valid claims to being the biggest IPT event ever.

The biggest field goes to IPT San Remo in Season 6 which saw 606 players play the €700+70 event with a total of 515 rebuys to create a total of 1,121 entries. This event was won by Alessandro De Fenza for €105,600. The biggest ‘unique’ field was also in San Remo albeit in Season 5, this was a €630+70 event won by Federico Piroddi beating EPT regular Dario Sammartino heads-up for the title. Piroddi took home €125,000 for his victory.

Also staking a claim for biggest ever IPT would IPT Venice back in Season 2. This was a €2,000 event, with 505 runners but the prizepool was €979,700 – bigger than either of San Remo’s two record-breaking events. Tamas Lendvai won the event for €235,000 on a final table that also featured EPT champion Toby Lewis.
