The second flight of players is starting to trickle into the room here in LAPT Viña del Mar.
We’re expecting a bigger field today as a mass of online qualifiers are lined up outside of registration.
We’re also guaranteed at least double the amount of Team PokerStars Pros today. Humberto Brenes and Andre Akkari have been spotted around the casino and they’ll be joining us for Day 1B.
Brenes did not arrive empty handed either. When he entered the tournament area, his hands were full with three, foot-long toy sharks and approximately 15 multi-colored PokerStars visors.
More Team Pros are rumored to be lurking around the Viña area, we’ll let you know if we spot some.
Play will be exactly like yesterday. Cards will be in the air at 12pm sharp, with a 15,000 starting stack.
Blinds will start at 50/100 and we’ll play a total of 10 levels. The dinner break will come after level 6 and then we’ll play down the final 4 levels.
The survivors will move on to Day 2.
So far, LAPT: Viña del Mar has seen 626 entrants, but remember, the number to beat is 681.
Speculation around the blogging pit set the number at 700.
There are currently around 342 players in the room so far, but late registration is still open for another level.
We’ve already beat last year’s 621 entrants, we’ll see if this turns out to be the biggest LAPT ever.
The familiar sound of riffling chips is filling the tournament area and play is seconds away from starting.
