Home / Uncategorized / LAPT7 Chile: Sun starting to set on Day 1A

The post-dinner bustouts have a kind of finality associated with them now that the chance to re-enter today has passed. It’s still just a “kind of” finality as there’s always tomorrow’s Day 1B for those wanting to re-enter.

But having crossed that line tonight we’ve seen the overall number of players start to whittle down markedly over the last couple of hours, with about 110 of the 237 total entries still battling to try to earn a Day 2 seat and a day off tomorrow to explore Viña.

The sun came out this afternoon in Viña del Mar

Chile’s own Alex Manzano was among those recently leaving for the night. The LAPT4 Brazil Main Event champion took his short stack and A♦ 7♣ up against Carlos Mora’s 3â™  3♦ and the board bringing no improvement Manzano’s Day 1A was done.

Rafael Pardo has made three LAPT final tables before, but to make a fourth he’ll have to do so after entering again tomorrow after shoving his short stack and getting two callers, then failing to beat them both.

And Lynn Gilmartin has left us as well after enduring a most unfortunate first hand back from the break.

Sitting with about 15,000, Gilmartin had been moved to the feature table just before dinner, but the table broke quickly. As it happened, Gilmartin’s new draw put her at Table 4 — the next one slated to be featured — and so she returned from dinner to take a seat in a somewhat familiar position for the television host, namely, in front of the cameras.

Alas, the very first hand back saw Gilmartin draw K♦ Kâ™  on a hand in which an opponent had picked up A♣ Aâ™  . The board brought no help for Gilmartin who won’t be coming back to re-enter tomorrow. She smilingly related all to us on her way out, however, speaking highly of the experience and a desire to take another crack at an LAPT down the road.

Meanwhile Lynn’s boyfriend Angel Guillen continues to battle alongside his fellow Team PokerStars Pros as play winds toward the end of Level 8. Indeed, Guillen is faring the best of the bunch thus far today with a stack starting to challenge the 100,000-chip mark, good enough to put him near the leaders at the moment.

Guillen’s teammate Christian de Leon is likewise doing well with about 55,000, while things are looking up for Andre Akkari, too, after he just chipped up over 40,000.

Humberto Brenes around 30,000, and David Williams is battling with just under 15,000.

Leo Fernandez has busted once more today. And Nacho Barbero (who took third at LAPT6 Chile) has fallen as well after failing to complete a flush on the river versus the pocket aces of Rodrigo Henríquez. We expect to see both of them back here again tomorrow.

Following Level 8 will come the last break of Day 1A, then two more levels for bagging, tagging, and a (not-so-final) farewell for the night.
