Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Chile: Fun and games on the side

Yesterday we shared how a celebrity cash game running alongside the Main Event had added a little something extra to the usual proceedings for an LAPT. There are other side attractions continuing today and throughout the five days of the Main Event and 12 side events.

This afternoon Intellipoker, PokerStars’ free poker school, offered passersby a chance to play heads-up matches against a poker coach and by winning getting a small cash prize deposited in their PokerStars’ accounts.

Intellipoker coach Andrés “Tu Pierdes” Moll was on hand, taking on two opponents at once in turbo-style matches with five-minute levels.

Heads-up for lolz

“I won five and lost four or five,” he reported afterwards. “I lost the rake!” he added with a grin.

Moll will be back tomorrow to play more matches, then on Monday a Team PokerStars Pro may be the one taking on comers (pending the pros’ Main Event progress).

Across the way here on the third floor of the Enjoy Viña del Mar Casino is another added attraction, a Player Lounge with large screen TVs showing football matches and wi-fi for playing online.

Enjoying at the Enjoy

On Sunday there will be free beverages plus some giveaways for LAPT8 Panama satellites and entries to the big Sunday Million 9th Anniversary tournament (with the $9 million prize pool guarantee) on March 15.

Then on Monday will come another “Bet the Winner” promotion in which players will be able to bet on their favorite of the last 24 players in the Main Event with more Sunday Million 9th anniversary entries up for grabs.

That’s a lot of fun on the side here — and that’s not even counting the ongoing side events on the far side of the room.

Meanwhile the Main marches on, with more than 200 having entered for today’s Day 1B. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 7, as does the option to reenter.
