Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Peru: Braga busts, 36 remain

We’d barely shared news of the first after-dinner eliminations when another huge rush of knockouts followed. By the time the tourney clock tripped over into Level 18, no less than 18 players had been sent to the rail to reduce the field to just 36.

Shortly after our last post, Antonio Hogaza (48th), Marco Zevola (47th), and Gustavo Robles (46th) successively — and swiftly — were felted to join the large group of min-cashers.

That’s when Brazil’s Ale Braga found it needful to commit her last 57,000 behind Q♥ 10â™  and was in need of improvement versus LAPT6 Peru winner Patricio Rojas’s A♦ 5♦ .

The J♣ 10♦ 5â™  provided both players pairs with Braga’s the better of the two, and the 6♥ turn meant she was still in front. But the 5♥ river gave trips to Rojas, and she, too, was out in 45th.

Horacio Fernando (44th), Henry Zapana (43rd), Patrick Mahoney (42nd), Juan Calderon (41st), and Raul Alvarez (40th) rounded out the group who each took away $3,960 from the prize pool. Then Daniel Williams (39th), Yoel Palmar (38th), and Oscar Barriga (37th) picked up $4,760 apiece.

The plan is to stop at 32, meaning if the procession to the payouts continues at this quick pace it may not be much longer before they’ll be calling it a night.
