Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Uruguay: Day 1b ends, LAPT8 Peru runner-up Moustapha leads

That’s it for all Day 1s here in Uruguay.

After 10 levels of play, Day 1b has come to a close and Chadi Moustapha is leading the field with 197,300.

There were 176 entrants today but after a full day of play, only 66 remain. These players will join the 29 survivors from Day 1a tomorrow for another 10 levels of play.

While Moustapha’s leading the final 95 players, he was one of Day 1a’s numerous eliminations.

Moustapha was a bit more successful today.

Moustapha bagged about 67 percent more chips than yesterday’s chip leader, Patricio Rojas, who finished Day 1a with 133,100.

While Rojas has one LAPT title to his name, Moustapha came within one elimination of a title of his own last stop.

Moustapha will be looking to score that final elimination here in Uruguay.

Second in chips is Brazil’s Jorge Breda, who finished the day with 177,500.

Breda used his stack and aggression to his advantage in the final level of the day.Breda kept open-raising and managed to trap Julio Belluscio with three hands to go.
Blinds were 500/1,000 with and 100 ante and once again, Breda opened to 2,500.

Belluscio moved all-in for about 17,000 from the button and Breda snap-called when action folded back to him on the cutoff.

Breda showed A♠ A♥ and Belluscio shook his head and turned over A♦ 4♥ .

It was just that kind of day for Breda.

The board ran K♠ 2♥ 6♥ J♣ 10♦ , Breda won the hand and ended the day near the top of the counts.

Friend of PokerStars Felipe Mojave also survived the day and will come back tomorrow with 45,700.

The Argentinian doctor/Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event champion, Mario Lopez, also made through the day after busting out on Day 1a.

The doctor will return with 77,300.

But their chips didn’t just come from thin air, lots of them came from the now-eliminated majority.

Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari was among the many after he was eliminated in the last level of the day. At least now Akkari can get some rest since he flew 30 hours to get here and showed up this morning.

Both Argentinian two-time LAPT champs, Fabian Ortiz and Nacho Barbero, also failed to make it through the day. This leaves Oscar Alache as the last two-time champion in the field.

While Barbero and Ortiz won’t be able to represent their country at the final table, they have a lot of back up. The Argentinian majority was most pronounced today during the Boca Juniors vs. Argentinos Juniors game but chances are that the distractions will shrink as we get closer to the $155,730 grand prize.

Join us tomorrow as we continued to play down to our LAPT8 Uruguay champion.
