The women of Team PokerStars Pro are quite a bunch of overachievers. In the last few months, arguably the two biggest stories in the poker world were the accomplishments of our own Red Spades Vicky Coren Mitchell and Vanessa Selbst. With her victory in San Remo, Coren Mitchell became the EPT’s first two-time Main Event winner and Selbst won her third World Series of Poker bracelet, defeating 130 of the world’s elite NLHE players in the $25K Mixed-Max event. And that’s just the two of them. Just off the top of my head, I can think of three other recent big scores from the ladies of Team Pro– Celina Lin won a Spadie at the 2013 ACOP, Fatima Moreira de Melo was runner-up at the UKIPT Isle of Man, and Liv Boeree started off 2014 with a second-place finish at UKIPT Edinburgh.

Oh, hello. Aren’t you pretty!

PokerStars honored their achievements by doing what they do best– throwing a party. The Women’s Sunday Team Pro Special had a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool and $100 bounties on the four Red Spades in the field– Team Pros Celina Lin and Vicky Coren as well as Team Online’s Katerina Malasidou and Adrienne Rowsome. In addition to some souped-up final table payouts, each of the final nine earned a special prize personalized by one of our Red Spades.

Blinds were 3,600/7,200 with ten players remaining and lilchn was the shortest stack at 73,702. The action folded to lilchin on the button and her 15,120 opening raise was met with a shove from chip leader HaramPara in the big blind. Iilchin called all-in, her A♣ 10â™  trailing Q♣ Qâ™  . HaramPara flopped top set and turned queens full on the Q♦ 10♣ 2♦ 10♦ 3♣ board, ending lilchn’s run on the final table bubble.

Early eliminations

Perth-kidd lost an early pot to Liz1_1Elis and with 106,000 left, she three-bet shoved from the big blind with K♦ Q♥ . Initial raiser 3BetHold called with 2♥ 2♣ and hit a set on the 9♣ 7♣ 2♠ flop. Perth-kidd was drawing dead on the 3♥ turn and hit the rail in ninth place ($450.00).

EARLYGIRLL was poised to double through chip leader HaramPara after getting her stack in pre flop with Q♥ Q♦ vs. 4♣ 4â™  . However, HaramPara hit a 8♣ 5♣ 3♣ flop and picked up a flush draw. HaramPara hit it on the turn with the A♣ and ended EARLYGIRLL’s run in eighth place ($675.00).

Liz1_1Elis takes the chip lead

On the very next deal, 3BetHold opened for 19,530 from UTG and Liz1_1Elis called from middle position. HaramPara came along from the big blind and they went three ways to a A♠ 8♠ 3♣ flop. The action passed to 3BetHold, who bet 23,418. Liz1_1Elis was the lone called. The turn came the 7♠ and 3BetHold fired another 31,166. Liz1_1Elis called again. When the A♦ hit the river, 3BetHold bet 59,443 and Liz1_1Elis moved all-in for 320,173. 3BetHold called and revealed A♣ J♠ for trip aces, but Liz1_1Elis had her with 3♥ 3♠ for threes full of aces. Liz1_1Elis raked in the 820,000 pot and took the chip lead, leaving 3BetHold on only 67,000 in chips.

With the blinds up to 5,000/10,000, HaramPara min-raised from UTG and 3BetHold moved in for 67,991. Liz1_1Elis called from the cutoff and Mylly8 shoved for 159,328 from the big blind. HaramPara gave up her hand, but Liz1_1Elis called the additional 91,337.

Lylly8 A♦ Q♣
Liz1_1Elis A♥ K♠
3BetHold A♠ K♣

Mylly8 did not improve on the 10♥ 6♦ 2♠ 4♥ 8♥ board and exited in seventh place ($975.00). Liz1_1Elis and 3BetHold split the 238k main pot and Liz1_1Elis won the 183k side pot.

SonnyRamone sunk

Moments later, Liz1_1Elis opened for 20,000 from the cutoff and SonnyRamone shoved for 203,488 on the button with Q♦ 9♦ . Liz1_1Elis snap-called with K♥ K♣ . Athough she flopped an open-ended straight draw, SonnyRamone didn’t improve on the J♥ 10♣ 7♣ 2♣ 10♥ board and went out in sixth place ($1,275.00), while Liz1_1Elis moved up to 1.25 million.

Liz1_1Elis rivers 3BetHold

Short stack 3BetHold doubled to 259,000 when her A♣ Kâ™  held up against pro.nastya’s Aâ™  9♦ . Fellow shortie happyda9 was on the dominated side of the same situation, all-in with A♥ J♦ against HaramPara’s A♣ K♥ . However, happyda9 hit running straight cards to make Broadway and moved up to 237,000 in chips.

3BetHold’s stay didn’t last long, however, Two hands later, she min-raised the button and Liz1_1Elis defended her big blind. Liz1_1Elis check-raised the Q♣ 5♥ 3♥ flop to 33,824, then fired 59,449 at the 7♦ turn. 3BetHold shoved for 163,900 and Liz1_1Elis called, her Qâ™  9♥ in dire shape against 3BetHold’s K♥ K♣ . However, Liz1_1Elis spiked her five-outer on the river with the Q♦ and sent 3BetHold packing in fifth place ($1,602.00).

HaramPara KOs two

The blinds rose to 6,000/12,000 and with the action folded to HaramPara in the small blind, she raised to 36,000. Pro.nastya three-bet shoved for 166,671 from the big and HaramPara called. Pro.nastya’s K♦ Qâ™  had a 50/50 shot against 9♥ 9♣ , but didn’t improve on the J♥ 6♣ 2♣ 2♥ Aâ™  board. However, for fourth place, pro.nastya banked $2,280.00– close to first-place money in a regular Women’s Sunday.

Then, on the next hand, HaramPara raised to 24,000 on the button and happyda9 called from the big blind. Happyda9 moved in for 186,018 as soon as the flop fell A♠ 7♥ 3♥ and HaramPara called.

happyda9 Q♥ 8♥
HaramPara A♣ 5♥

Happyda9 needed a heart to make a flush and snap off HaramPara’s top pair but she missed, the 9♣ and the 4♣ landing on the turn and river. Happyda9 went out in third place ($3,030.00) and our heads-up match was set.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 3: HaramPara (1,438,227 in chips)
Seat 6: Liz1_1Elis (1,266,773 in chips)

After two hands of heads-up play and one 219k pot to Liz1_1Elis, the final two agreed to pause their match and discuss a potential deal. Here’s a look at how they stacked up at the time:

HaramPara 1,354,227
Liz1_1Elis 1,350,773

Their stacks virtually even, Liz1_1Elis and HaramPara agreed to an ICM chop of the remaining prize pool. Although there was no more cash at stake, the two played out the match for TLB points, the special added prizes, and the title.

Liz1_1Elis dominated the heads-up action start to finish. She picked up a 387k pot on a four-heart board with a better flush than HaramPara’s and followed it up with a five-bet shove pre flop to push her opponent under a million in chips.

Liz1_1Elis would have won when HaramPara called all-in with A♥ J♣ vs. her A♦ Q♦ , but the board ran out K♦ 6â™  4♥ 6♥ 6♣ , splitting the pot. However, it wasn’t long before HaramPara three-bet shoved pre flop with 3â™  3♦ and Liz1_1Elis called with A♦ 6â™  . HaramPara survived the K♥ 10♦ 2â™  flop, but Liz1_1Elis turned the 6♥ to pair her kicker. The river was the 4♦ and Liz1_1Elis locked up her first Women’s Sunday title!

Congratulations to Liz1_1Elis and all our final table players on a lucrative week in the Women’s Sunday. The heads-up deal yielded champion Liz1_1Elis $4,874.02 while runner-up HaramPara earned $4,875.98.
