Home / Uncategorized / MicroMillionsII: PanchoZelada gets the girls; suclaw gets the win in Event #67 ($1+R, 3x-Turbo)

These $1+R events have been some of the juiciest so far in MicroMillions II, and Event #67 (3x-Turbo) was no exception. It guaranteed $75,000 in the prize pool, but that number was easily surpassed. The 19,321 players purchased 101,757 rebuys and more than 10,000 add-ons to swell the pool to $119,675.01. It’s that extra penny that makes all the difference.

The top of the leader board was ever-shifting as the field whittled down, but a commanding chip leader finally emerged down the stretch. With 14 players left, PanchoZelada found pocket queens in a huge pot. Remember this theme — queens in a big pot — because it wouldn’t be the last time we’d see this from PanchoZelada.

That pot gave PanchoZelada a massive chip lead, but two players had pipped ahead of him by the time the final table was set. Off-to-rail had earned himself the big stack with a big suckout just prior. The German got all his chips in with K♥ 10♥ preflop, and he was dominated by the K♠ Q♥ of sandiOs29. There were five cards to come, though, and the dealer ran out a vicious board: 9♠ 2♥ 3♣ 5♥ 7♥ . A few minutes later, off-to-rail and the rest of the final nine racked up and redrew for the last time:

Having been crippled in that previous pot, sandiOs29 was the first to exit the final table. The Croatian was all-in from the small blind on his final hand, and his J♦ 7♦ ran into another pair of queens for PanchoZelada — Q♥ Q♦ . SandiOs29 managed to flop two pair and take the lead, but he was counterfeited on the river as the board ran out J♥ Aâ™  7♣ K♣ A♣ . The final-table appearance was worth more than $700 for sandiOs29.

Two hands later, PanchoZelada picked up queens again. Polecatpoker was content to get his chips in on a three-bet shove with A♥ Jâ™  , but there’d be no catching up. The board came 7â™  10♥ 9♦ K♦ 9♥ , and Australia’s last hope was out in eighth place with a four-figure payout.

PanchoZelada was suddenly up over 200 million chips, but it was suclaw’s turn to make a run. The Dominican first took care of luckyrider in seventh place. The latter was flipping for his tournament life with 10♥ 10♦ against Aâ™  Qâ™  , but suclaw flopped the winner on the 2♣ A♦ 5â™  J♦ 3â™  board.

Soon thereafter, FN BRICK had close to half his chips in from the big blind, and he called off the remainder when suclaw shoved on him. It was A♥ J♦ for suclaw this time and K♦ 6♠ for the shorty. The board ran out with five blanks, and FN BRICK was awarded just shy of $3,000 for his efforts.

PanchoZelada said, “suclaw u r on a roll brother”

True story. And dangerous foreshadowing. Just two minutes later, he’d drag another big pot and send two players off to the rail simultaneously. We’ll let you watch this one for yourself, too:

The final three players struck a deal, and they were playing for the extra $1,500 left in the middle. On one of the first hands back from the break, PanchoZelada picked up yet another pair of queens in a pot much bigger than the ones prior. With the blinds at 5M/10M (1M ante), suclaw opened to 25 million under the gun. PanchoZelada three-bet to 70 million. Suclaw flatted with about 250 million behind, and off they went to a flop. The dealer spread out K♥ 4♥ Q♦ , and PanchoZelada made a teaser bet of 20 million. The response was an all-in shove from suclaw and a snap-call from his opponent’s Q♥ Q♣ . Suclaw’s 10â™  J♥ was drawing live of the knockout, but the turn 7♦ and river 2â™  shipped the monster to the Chilean chip leader.

By now, off-to-rail was in push/fold mode as he hadn’t moved much at the final table. He had less than 5bb when he made his stand with Jâ™  5â™  . PanchoZelada called with A♣ K♣ , and there was no help from the dealer for either player. The high card was good enough, and off-to-rail was sent, well, off to the rail in third place.

That left PanchoZelada heads-up with about a 4:1 chip lead, but he was unable to finish off the pesky Dominican. Suclaw made his first shove with Kâ™  Jâ™  , and he high-carded a win of his own against PanchoZelada’s Q♦ 8♦ . A moment later, suclaw doubled again, this time in fairly lucky fashion.

The crazy eight on the turn all but ended the match, and one hand later, suclaw claimed the crown. The A♠ Q♥ for PanchoZelada ended up second-best against the mighty Q♠ 3♠ on a 6♠ 2♦ 7♠ K♣ 4♠ board, and he was out in second place with just short of $10,000 in cash.

Dominica has its first champion of this MicroMillions II. In a fine performance, suclaw overcame a big heads-up chip deficit to take the top prize of $11,723.38. With it comes the title of Champion and our collective congratulations on a job well done!
