The Moneymaker PSPC Tour continues its residency at Lucky Chances outside San Francisco. Today’s numbers were 69 unique players, who put in a total of 95 entries. We’re up to 628 total entries now – I think 1,000 total entries (and a prize pool of $86k plus the Platinum Pass) is possible.

I’ll give you a few pictures of the contestants, but first, a visit with Darrell Ticehurst. Darrell introduced himself to me and said “I remember you from the rec.gambling.poker days”. Rec.gambling.poker (“RGP” for short) was a tiny little corner of Usenet, and flourished during the early 90’s. It was a precursor to 2+2 and the other modern poker forums. I (your humble author, Lee Jones) was an active RGP participant from around 1992 until it devolved into a cesspool of spam, rants, and ads in the later 90’s. Needless to say, it was cool to meet a fellow RGPer from a quarter century ago.

Color me nostalgic, but it’s marvelous to hear from a fellow poker player who still retains his love of the game, enjoys the camaraderie and challenge, and continues to “worship at Our Lady of Lucky Chances”.

And a quick photo gallery from today’s contestants…

The badge says he’s a dealer here. But if Thomas Cook can keep that chip stack, he might be doing some traveling.

These two guys were chip leaders or close to it as we got down to two tables. 10 players from today will make it through to Sunday.

Finally, it’s probably good that my eyes aren’t good so I couldn’t see his look through the viewfinder. I might not have pressed the shutter release button.

If looks could crack a Nikkor lens…
