This week saw the first Super Tuesday of May, and the last before the Spring Championship of Online Poker — which starts Sunday — comes along to take over the tourney calendar for the next couple of weeks. A total of 559 took seats at tonight’s weekly $1,050 no-limit hold’em tournament, and after almost 10-and-a-half hours it was Negriin of Argentina taking all of the chips and a handsome $106,210 first prize.

That field meant a prize pool of $559,000 — well over the $300K guarantee (again) — with the top 63 finishers dividing the loot, five-figure scores for the top eight, and that six-figure cash ultimately claimed by Negriin for the win.

It took five-and-a-half hours for 559 players to play down to 64, just one elimination away from the money. Hand-for-hand play commenced, and before long it was AJacejackAJ opening with a raise from the cutoff, mmscl jamming for just under four big blinds from the BB, and AJacejackAJ calling.

mmscl had A♥ A♣ and looked to be in decent shape to survive against AJacejackAJ’s K♥ 7♥ . The flop came J♦ 9â™  2♥ , good for mmscl, and the 10♣ was okay, too. But the river brought the Qâ™  to fill a straight for AJacejackAJ, and mmscl unfortunately finished 64th to bubble the tourney.

With 63 left, metr80 occupied the top spot in the counts with more than 147,000, with Yann “yadio” Dion closest with about 140,000 and just a few others north of 100,000 when the average stack was 44,365.

It would take exactly an hour-and-a-half for 63 to play down to 18, and as they crossed the tourney’s seven-hour mark Killer_ooooo had moved in front with more than 450,000, nearly 200,000 ahead of Negriin in second position.

About an hour and 15 minutes after that the field had been whittled to the final nine, with Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis having moved ahead of the pack with nearly 530,000.

Yann “yadio” Dion (18th), dragonwarior (17th), and Ce$ar$pa (16th) each earned $4,472 for their finishes. gigaplayer (15th), Powergolf (14th), and snowman0803 (13th) took away $5,590 apiece. And busttard (12th), tonydatiger5 (11th), and spetsem (10th) each saw $6,708 added to their PokerStars accounts.

The final table was set.

Seat 1: Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis (United Kingdom) — 529,690
Seat 2: Johan “busto_soon” Van Til (Netherlands) — 203,932
Seat 3: Killer_ooooo (Israel) — 395,788
Seat 4: GR8MIND (Canada) — 66,500
Seat 5: SlipperyBean (United Kingdom) — 293,869
Seat 6: uWannaLoan? (Ireland) — 212,928
Seat 7: Negriin (Argentina) — 429,901
Seat 8: metr80 (Russia) — 217,000
Seat 9: Kid Blackie (United Kingdom) — 445,392

A dozen hands would pass, then GR8MIND — who’d managed to add a few chips in the interim — opened the 13th hand of the final table with a 2x raise to 11,200 from the cutoff seat. SlipperyBean then reraised to 33,600 from a seat over, and when the blinds folded GR8MIND called, leaving but 47,600 behind.

The flop came Q♥ 8♦ 9♣ , and when GR8MIND pushed all in SlipperyBean called. GR8MIND had 8â™  7â™  and had made a pair on the flop while SlipperyBean had A♥ K♦ . The Qâ™  turn was okay for GR8MIND, but the A♣ fell on fifth street, pairing SlipperyBean’s ace and sending GR8MIND out in ninth.

A couple more orbits passed, with the blinds moving up to 3,600/7,200 while Negriin moved into the lead. Then a hand arose in which Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis opened for 14,400 from under the gun. Killer_ooooo called from a couple of seats over, and Negriin called as well from the button.

metr80 then reraised all in from the small blind for 102,375 total, forcing a fold from Kid Blackie in the big blind. It folded around to Killer_ooooo who responded by shoving all in over the top, and the lone player left, Negriin, stepped aside.

metr80 had A♥ Q♣ while Killer_ooooo showed 6♥ 6♣ . The flop brought an ace, but a six as well, coming 10♥ 6â™  A♦ . The turn was the Qâ™  , however, giving metr80 a second pair and still slim hopes of surviving. But the river was the 6♦ , making quads for Killer_ooooo and ending metr80’s run in eighth.

The final seven battled onward, with Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis grabbing the lead away from Negriin, then becoming involved in a big blind-against-blind hand versus Kid Blackie. The pair began exchanging raises before the flop, then eventually Kid Blackie was all in with Aâ™  A♦ against Lewis’s A♥ Kâ™  . The aces held to give Kid Blackie the 844,464-chip pot and the chip lead.

Play continued another half-hour, with KidBlackie pushing up over 1 million to increase the lead. Finally the blinds were 5,000/10,000 when Killer_ooooo raised to 20,000 from the cutoff seat, then Negriin reraised to 51,225 from the big blind. Killer_ooooo responded by making it 150,000 to go, and when Negriin pushed all in for more than half a million, Killer_ooooo called with the 202,304 left.

It was a race as Negriin had J♣ J♠ and Killer_ooooo A♠ K♣ . The flop came 10♦ J♥ 7♠ , giving Negriin a set of jacks. The K♠ turn and A♣ river then paired Killer_ooooo twice, but it was too little too late as Killer_oooo was out in seventh.

Just a few hands later Negriin was min-raising to 20,000 from UTG, then Johan “busto_soon” Van Til reraised to 140,000 from the button, leaving only 615 chips behind. It folded back around to Negriin who reraised back, and Van Til called with those few remaining chips.

Negriin had K♥ J♦ this time while Van Til showed A♥ 9♥ . The five community cards suited Negriin’s hand best, coming 4♣ K♦ J♥ Kâ™  Q♦ to give Negriin a full house and eliminate busto_soon in sixth.

A little over an orbit later uWannaLoan? would be nearly felted after losing a preflop all-in with A♥ Q♦ versus 810ofclubs’s 2♦ 2♥ in which Lewis’s deuces held.

All in on the next hand with K♦ 9â™  for just 22,494 (less than two big blinds) against Negriin’s 9♥ 8â™  , the board rolled out 2♦ J♥ Q♦ 8♥ 5â™  to give Negriin a pair of eights and send uWannaLoan? railward in fifth.

Negriin had knocked out three players in a row, taking over the lead and moving up over 1.2 million. Then in the final hand before the 10-hour break Negriin would claim a fourth straight victim in nearest competitor Kid Blackie to claim a huge 1.72 million-plus chip pot.

The blinds had climbed to 6,000/12,000, and Negriin opened the action with a raise to 24,000 from the button. Kid Blackie reraised to 68,000 from the small blind, and when it folded back Negriin four-bet to 171,225 and Kid Blackie called.

Both players checked the 4♥ 3♣ 3♠ flop. The turn then brought the 7♦ and a bet of 118,555 from Kid Blackie which Negriin called. The 8♣ then fell on fifth street. This time Kid Blackie bet 265,400, and when Negriin shoved, Kid Blackie called with the 299,060 left behind.

Kid Blackie had A♥ A♣ , but Negriin had flopped trips with K♦ 3♦ to claim a massive lead while reducing the field to three.

They returned from the break and played another 20 minutes, after which Negriin still led with nearly 1.2 million while Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis was starting to close in with over 930,000. Meanwhile, SlipperyBean was in third with about 670,000.

Then with the blinds at 7,000/14,000 a hand occurred in which it folded to Negriin who raised to 32,449 from the small blind, Lewis reraised to 66,500 from the big blind, Negriin pushed it up further to 172,245, and Lewis called.

The flop came 6♦ K♣ 4♥ and both players checked. The 10♣ then arrived on fourth street, in response to which Negriin shoved all in and Lewis called with the 757,386 he had left.

Negriin: A♣ Q♣
810ofclubs: K♥ Q♦

Lewis had the edge for the moment with a pair of kings, but the 6♣ landed on the river to complete Negriin’s flush, and Lewis was out in third.

As it happened, heads-up play would last but one hand.

After knocking out Lewis, Negriin had 2,125,198 to SlipperyBean’s 669,802. Negriin immediately raised a little over 2x to 30,393 from the button and SlipperyBean called.

The flop came 6♦ J♦ 10♠ and SlipperyBean checked. Negriin bet 36,000, SlipperyBean raised to 98,000, Negriin reraised to 192,555, SlipperyBean reraised back to 294,000, Negriin made it 395,445, SlipperyBean shoved all in, and Negriin called.

After all of that, SlipperyBean showed J♥ 8♣ for top pair, but Negriin had top two with J♠ 10♣ . The turn was the 4♠ and river the Q♣ , and Negriin had knocked out a sixth straight opponent to claim the last of the chips and the Super Tuesday win!

Congratulations to Negriin for topping another huge Super Tuesday field to earn a six-figure payday!

Just for fun, here’s a graph showing the chip movement at the final table from the first hand to the last, with hands following eliminations serving as our points of reference. See how Negriin’s rise played out, one knockout at a time.
