Home / Uncategorized / Weekend Warm-Up: Panama headlines, with a Sunday Storm brewing

As we welcome another weekend on PokerStars, we look back on the week, which includes events in Rozvadov, as well as Panama, where the PokerStars Championship continues into the weekend. We also look ahead to some landmark anniversaries for our online events, all of which should keep things interesting this weekend.

Play continues in Panama

All eyes have been on Panama this week as it hosted its first PokerStars Championship event. Play continues later today, and through the weekend, with coverage of the Main Event. While the Super High Roller finished earlier this week (find details below) the High Roller event begins on Saturday.

Our team are on hand bringing live updates and reports from Panama, which you can read here, as well as an archive of what has happened so far.

The big winners this week

The Super High Roller event was won by American Ben Tollerene, who collected $538,715 for first place. He defeated Daniel Dvoress heads up, on a final table that was predictably laden with talent. Our report from Panama tells the full story of Tollerene’s victory.

Meanwhile over in Rozvadov the PokerStars Festival wrapped up earlier this week with a win for Petr Svoboda of the Czech Republic in the Main Event, worth €124,346 after a four-way deal, and a High Roller title for Croatian Boris Kuzmanovic, who collected €37,791 after a three-way deal. Looking ahead to the Riviera

You know spring is on the way when we start talking about Monaco, the Riviera and how to play the PokerStars Championship Main Event there this coming May. That’s what we did this week as the geraniums blossomed around us, pointing out some of the features of this year’s rendition, including early bird specials, flip outs, last-longers, and what you can expect away from the tables. It’s all detailed here. Start planning your trip now.

The Sunday Storm turns 6

It’s a month of anniversaries on PokerStars, starting this Sunday with the sixth anniversary of the Sunday Storm.

It kicks off this Sunday at 13:00 ET, with a $1 million guarantee. When you consider it costs just $11 to play, it’s is arguably the best value event of the weekend. What’s more there’s $100,000 guaranteed for the winner, which is why we’re giving you a chance to re-enter during the re-entry period in case things don’t start as well as planned.

The Sunday Million turns 11!

Then there’s the Sunday Million, which celebrates its 11th anniversary early next month. On Sunday April 2, online poker’s most prestigious weekly tournament will feature a $10 million guarantee, with $1 million of that for the winner. What’s more we’re giving players twelves routes to win that million, with options available to players of any bankroll. That means direct buy-ins, satellites from a dollar, Spin & Go’s and more.
