There are many stark differences between online poker and live poker, but when it comes going deep in tournaments, the skill translates. How well?
Well, consider this: the man who won the 2012 World Championship of Online Poker Player of the Series is still in the field. Mikal Blomlie is freerolling this PCA main event after topping the 2012 WCOOP leaderboard. That effort earned him a 2013 PCA seat, a 2013 TCOOP main event ticket, and a trip to the EPT Grand Final. Now’s he’s parlaying it all into a deep run at the main event. At this hour, he is among the final 42 players in action.
It’s not just Blomlie. Also still in the field and near the top of the chip counts is the winner of the high-buy-in 2010 SCOOP main event, Ryan Fair. That was worth $1,162,350. A win here this weekend would be more than that by about $700,000.
Also still on contention is the 2012 WCOOP $10,300 High Roller champion Darren Elias. Six months ago, Elias beat out nearly 300 players for a first prize of more than half a million bucks. Now, he’s in the middle of the pack with 37 players remaining
When this day began, Ryan Carter–second place finisher in the 2012 World Championshp of Online Poker–was also in the middle of a deep run. He’s since departed, but not before earning $32,000.
