Home / Uncategorized / PCA 2106: Gleb Tremzin, Mike Gorodinsky get first trophies

We have not calculated the shipping cost for all the trophies they are going to hand out here during the 104 events that will play out before the end of the 2016, but we’d bet the price would make for a good side event prize pool.

The first of those trophies have started finding their keepers, and we’re already starting to see some familiar names on the winners’ board.

You can check out all the money-winners so far on our 2016 PCA side events results page, or keep reading to check out the newest winners.

GLEB TREMZIN TAKES DOWN $2K NL 8-HANDED TURBO
If the name Glem Temzin sounds familiar, there is a good reason for that. Just a few weeks ago, he nearly won the EPT Prague Main Event. After finishing runner-up there, Tremzin got his trophy here. He won the $2,000 Turbo event on the very first day of this year’s PCA. He beat out 95 players to bank $48,940. While he got the lion’s share of the prize pool, he had to share some of it with the likes of John Andress, Ryan D’Angelo, Calvin Anderson, and 2013 WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess.

GORODINSKY WINS MORE THAN THE BUTTON IN $5k NL TURBO “WIN THE BUTTON”
It was a small field, but not so small that Mike Gorodinsky couldn’t bank $46,640 for a first place finish. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner has thrived at PCAs in the past, especially the $5k 8-Game championships. He won that event in 2010, was runner-up the following year, and won it again in 2012. He has also cashed twice in the Main Event. Now he has a $5,000 Win The Button title to his name.

DOUBLE SURVIVOR DAY FOR DAVID PETERS, BUT LEAH TAKES VICTORY
Not only is David Peters still alive in the $100,000 Super High Roller with 12 players left, he went on to pocket $100,000 in the 10k NL Hyper Turbo “$100,000 Survivor” event. That’s a happy freeroll if there ever was one. Peters’ late night cash comes less than a week after he achieved the biggest payday of his career, finishing second to Fedor Holz in the WPT Philippines Super High Roller for $2.3 million. While Peters won back his Super High Roller buy-in, Mike Leah took the trophy.

FLIPOUT UPDATES
There were three $120 Flipout events yesterday with a total of 65 players competing overall. In the first of the day, Brazil’s Georges Hajjar won $1k after defeating a 20-strong field. The second Flipout was a Winner Takes All event but British player Guy Taylor and Canada’s Raymond Latinsky chopped it up for $950 each with Taylor snagging the title and trophy. Kris Steinbach, also from Canada, won the last Flipout for $1,450.

We’ll be updating the 2016 PCA side events results page throughout the tourney.

Congrats to all the early winners.
