Episode 203 is the first Poker In The Ears podcast of 2021. Joe and James delve into the highlights of the inaugural Blowout Series, before welcoming YouTube sensation Brian “True Geordie” Davis to the show.

First, it’s time for a catch up and chat, and Joe talks honestly and openly about his ongoing issues with his voice and need for surgery.

The main focus of the podcast is the Blowout Series (14:00), which gave away a total of over $92 million in prizes. The last Big Blowout tourney, which was streamed by the boys, reached a huge prize pool of $7 million prize pool, with a three way split and over $700k to both first and second place.

Brian “True Geordie” Davis joins the show (20:00). He’s well known for his content on football, boxing, and men’s health, and more. True Geordie is also a big poker fan. He played the WCOOP and Stadium Series last year, as well as some Blowout Series events. He now has a partnership with PokerStars, so we’ll be seeing more of him in the coming months.

Davis makes an interesting comparison between boxing and poker (28:12). He’s been training with elite level coaches in both, and is stunned at how similar the advice and mindsets are. True Geordie discusses his recent short poker film, Showdown (34:55), and his plans to host regular live streamed home games with a fun twist.

Of course, Brian isn’t allowed to leave before playing Joe’s stupid game, which this week is called “True Or False Geordie”.
