Home / Uncategorized / PokerStars Championship Prague: The high rollers are riding back into town

The €10,300 High Roller event has been one of the big success stories on the EPT and Championship over the years. The tournament attracts huge numbers of top pros and any win would get the bold treatment on a player’s poker resume.

It’s easy to forget that the event had humble beginnings back on Season 6 of the EPT where just three players entered the first High Roller event in Kiev. Shaun Deeb took home the title that day when the buy-in was a straight €20,500 freezeout. The format has changed these days to a €10,300 entry with the option of one re-entry, and that opened the doors to a whole new level of player that could afford the entry fee.

Can Kassouf make himself heard again this year?

A massive 407 entries took part in last year’s version and it was the infamous William Kassouf who took home the trophy and €532,500. He didn’t walk away with the most money though as he cut a deal with heads-up opponent Patrick Serda that gave the Canadian the lion’s share of the prize pool – €719,000.

Day 1 of the High Roller starts at 12:30pm CET and 10 one hour levels are scheduled to be played, with registration open until the beginning of play on Day 2. Stay tuned to the PokerStars Blog for feature pieces throughout the day and head over to out friends at PokerNews for all the live updates.
