6.04pm: Haven’t we seen you somewhere before?
We thought he looked familiar, and sure enough it was Ron Wasiel, the PokerStars player we have met at the WSOP and LAPT. He was good for a fourth-place finish in Uruguay in March this year for $82,160, and in this year’s WSOP Main Event he enjoyed a good run before busting in 542nd for a $23,196 pay day.

Ronald Wasiel exits the final table at LAPT Punta del Este

The painter, from Chicago, is holding firm today, but still slightly shy of his 30,000 starting stack. He pointed to a chap wearing a sinister black hood in seat two, saying: “You see him? He’s a bad man.” Bad in the sense, I suspect, that he has taken a few too many pots off Wasiel.

Wasiel spoke with our video blogging team during his run in Uruguay. This is what he had to say back then…

5.45pm: New chip leader

PokerStars qualifier Michael Naletov has just shot to the top of the chip leader board with a stack of 106,000. The latest player to feel his force was Allan Bække who was sat in the big blind and called a raise of 900 from the Russian. The flop came 4â™  4♣ J♦ and Bække check called a 1,000 before both players checked the Q♣ turn. The river came 9♣ and Bække took over the initiative with a 3,000 bet that was quickly raised up to 7,000 by Naletov. Bække didn’t like it at all but made the call anyway only to be shown 9♥ 9♦ by Naletov for a rivered full house. Bække mucked his cards and shook his head with a wry smile upon his face.
