Welcome back to Paradise City! We have a huge day on the cards with the High Roller already underway and charging ahead to its exciting conclusion tonight, Day 1B of the Main Event has just kicked off, and after all the chips have been bagged and tagged we have the Players Party to look forward to.

Yesterday’s Main Event Day 1 flight saw 54 runners take to the felt and after 12 45-minute levels they had been cut down to just 17. With Day 1A flights notoriously the smallest we expect to see a few more hopefuls in the mix here today. The Poker Gods picked Dmitrii Kovalevskii as their favourite last night – he finished the day with a commanding chip lead of 201,000, way out in front of second spot Sparrow Cheung with 158,100. Kovalevskii has just one live cash to his name but looks good to change that this week.

Fortune also favoured three past Asia Players of the Year with Jack Wu (2016), Alan Lau (2015) and Pete Chen (2014) all surviving the day. You can see their stacks and the rest of the Day 2 qualifiers from Day 1A on PokerNews by clicking here.

For now though the cards are in the air on Day 1B and the field continues to grow. Much like yesterday there are a host of notables on the tournament floor, but they’re all playing in the High Roller on the adjacent tables.

The likes of Team PokerStars Online Randy ‘nanonoko’ Lew, Daniel Demicki, Linh Tran, Albert Paik and Yuki Ko are all battling it out in that event, and will likely either late register the Main Event if eliminated today or return for one of the final flights tomorrow.

Today’s Main Event plan is slightly different than yesterday as the one-hour dinner break has been removed to accommodate the Players Party after the action wraps up. We’ll still see 12 levels of 45 minutes apiece and players starting with 30,000 in chips.

Who will spin it up the furthest? Will they manage to eclipse Kovalevskii’s impressive tally from Day 1A? Stay tuned to the PokerStars Blog to find out! You can also visit PokerNews for all your live reporting needs, and don’t forget to get involved on Twitter using the hashtag #PSFKorea.
