Day 1D was host to some quick and exciting poker action – as is the case with turbo flights. The final chance to qualify for Day 2 of this PokerStars Festival Main Event, Day 1D featured 20-minute levels instead of the usual 45.
12 of those levels and four hours later Day 1D was in the books.
We saw another 47 players jump in for some turbo action, and when chips were bagged up it was Dosun Park who had accumulated the most. Park has zero live cashes to his name but coming back with 109,700 tomorrow he has a good shot at changing that.
Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin couldn’t hang on earlier today during Day 1C but she was back for redemption in this Day 1D flight. She scooped some chips after back-dooring a straight in Level 5 prior to emptying the clip versus a tablemate in Level 9. In the latter, Lin raised a bet on a flop of 3â™ 2â™ 7♦ and barrelled the K♥ turn before emptying the clip on the 9♥ river. Her opponent couldn’t commit to a call and Lin climbed to 96,000 before a few hiccups saw her bag 73,900 at the conclusion of Level 12.
This week’s High Roller champion Boyuan Qu was also in the mix and still has a shot at adding the Main Event title to his resume here in Korea. Qu took a hit in the penultimate level when he couldn’t beat an opponent’s A♦ 7♥ on an ace high board, but rallied home to spin his end-of-day stack up to 66,800. Joining Qu on Day 2 will be last year APPT Seoul Main Event champion Albert Paik who is chasing another big score here in Korea. He finished tonight on a stack of 86,000.
With Day 1D done and dusted we can now inform you that the Main Event attracted a total field of 285 entries. They generated a prize pool of â‚©414,675,000 ($370,420) and the eventual champion will take home â‚©83,130,000 ($74,293). 39 players will receive a return on their investment with the min-cash set at â‚©2,860,000 ($2,550).
