When Fintan “easywithaces” Hand and Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg were first signed by PokerStars and began their duel streams on the PokerStars channel, the two popular Twitch streamers had never actually met in person.
Fast forward a couple of years and it’s the same scenario for two of the newest additions to the red spade roster: Mark “Naigo1” Foresta and Keith “AccidentalGrenade” Becker. Both are making a name for themselves streaming their play on PokerStars PA (often duel streaming) and they’ve become good friends, despite having never met in real life.
That all changed at the end of May when a great cause brought them together.
Two live charity events were organised in Pennsylvania–one at the Burd’s Nest Brewing Co. in Carlisle on May 22, the other at the Historic King Mansion in Harrisburg on May 29–with the goal of raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Both tournaments had a $150 buy-in with all proceeds donated to the worthy cause through event organiser Esch McCombie’s Man of the Year Campaign.
We’re happy to report that the two events combined raised more than $10,000 for the charity, which aims to cure leukaemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Foresta and Becker were in town for the Carlisle event, the former busting from one tournament when an opponent misread their hand and called him down with pocket sixes on a 99772 board. Foresta was bluffing with a counterfeited pocket threes and that was all she wrote.
But while the poker didn’t go to plan, both Foresta and Becker had a great time at the events. The feedback for both has been overwhelmingly positive, so keep an eye out for more charity events in Pennsylvania in the future.
