The festive holidays are finally upon us. For most people any sense of competition around this time of year is board game-based, or over who can shovel the most mince pies down their neck. Not so for those of you getting involved in the first ever PokerStars WCOOP Challenge Series (or any of the big weekend tournaments, the results of which you can find here).

Six of the eight big money events have played out with some huge results; Timorm1 won $205,495 in WCOOP Challenge 04: $1,050 NL Hold’em [8-Max], buckguy2200 pocketed the largest chunk of a five-way deal for $170,579.50 in WCOOP Challenge 05: $215 NL Hold’em [Sunday Warm-Up]. But two of the biggest have yet to finish.

The two WCOOP Challenge events that carried over to today are; the Sunday Million replacement, WCOOP Challenge 07: $215 NL Hold’em, and the WCOOP Challenge 08: $2,100 NL Hold’em Main Event, $3m Gtd. Both events are deep into the money with 179 left from the 11,644 that started the $215, while 81 remain from 1,541 in the $2,100 Main Event.

All-in for charity: Andre Coimbra looking for a dream finish to 2013

It could be a fairy tale finish for Team PokerStars Online’s Andre ‘acoimbra’ Coimbra with his $100 to $100,000 Challenge. Coimbra has managed to spin $100 up to more than $62,000 so far, all of which he is giving away to charity, and he’s already locked up $6,164. Coimbra basically needs to finish at the final table to complete the challenge and has the chance to smash it if he takes down the $516,235 first-place prize! Either way, it’s a lot of money that’s going to go to charity. Well done! Other players still in the money include Matt “ch0ppy” Kay, Mat “matfrankland” Frankland, Dan “w00ki3z” Cates, and Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen.

Post-holidays holiday?
Are you looking for a bit of sun after the holidays? Obviously this is more of an issue for those in the Northern Hemisphere, but still… Read this article from Team Pro about why you should come to the PCA.
