On May 21, 2009, PokerStars poked its nose into the world of YouTube. The video sharing site was already the most popular in the world, but it remained to be seen if the world’s biggest online poker site could find a place there. Now, some six years into the experiment, the answer is clearly yes–50 million times over.

This week, the PokerStars YouTube channel hits 50 million views, the biggest chunk of which has come in the last three years.

The numbers are impressive by just about any measure.

In the past six years, viewers have clocked in 465 million minutes of viewing over more than 5,600 videos. The YouTube channel itself has 144,923 subscribers.

How did it happen?

Well, the millions of views came in no small part from a talented group of people who put together final table recaps and edited versions of live tournaments that viewers simply can’t find anywhere else. What’s more, the YouTube channel also hosts live streams (something that is getting even more popular these days). Among the most popular of those was the EPT London 2014 Main Event final table which drew 96,192 viewers to YouTube.

But when you start looking at the big numbers, you find things like 1,297,787 views on the video of Ronaldo getting bluffed, or 1,228,341 views of Rafa Nadal doing trick shots with cards, or 787,085 views on one episode of the PCA Super High Roller.

But none of them hold a candle to this one.

That video of Ronnie Bardah facing off against Miss Finland on Shark Cage has been watched nearly 3 million times on its own (and if you haven’t seen it, you really should watch it).

These days, you never know what they next big viewing platform will be. YouTube is still hot, Twitch is getting bigger, and people are Periscope-Meerkatting from their seats. Before long, there will likely be a virtual reality game that will put you tableside for the biggest action.

In the meantime, the PokerStars YouTube Channel is running 24 hours a day for your enjoyment.
