Two members of Team Online have an issue. One feels like he’s too big. One feels like he is too little. In a poker world where fitness has become the fashion, George Lind and Grayson Physioc have decided to put their money where their mouth is. Seriously.

Here we have Lind’s perspective on his escape from the U.S. and his quest to shed a whole bunch of weight.

Since some of you who don’t follow my twitter might care a little about this, here is a brief summary of my WSOP this year:

After spending the last 2 weeks getting our Arizona house ready for sale and enduring this miserableness…

We are finally heading back to Vancouver tomorrow. Of course, Coop has to get sick right before we leave, but maybe it will help him sleep better in the car anyway. We are driving from Phoenix to Los Angeles, then up the California coast on scenic Highway 1 til we either get carsick from the curvy roads or get sick of going painfully slow. Hopefully, we find some fun stuff to do with Coop along the way. Other than stopping in the San Fran area to see Deb’s cousin, we don’t have any stops planned yet.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you may remember a post on my old blog where I talked about how Coop being born inspired me to lose some weight and be healthier in general. I lost 21 pounds in 7 weeks to get “down” to a weight of…

For most of the rest of 2011, I slacked a bit but still lost a few pounds. This year I’ve been doing really well so far.

Fellow Team Online member Spacegravy just moved to Vancouver last month and was telling me about a service that delivers healthy yet delicious food to your door every day. I did something similar to this during the WSOP using All American Dave (a fitness guru to many poker players) and lost 8 pounds in 6 weeks while playing poker every day and getting very little exercise. Anyway, Spacegravy and I got to talking and I told him I wanted to be below 180 by the end of the year. He’s at about 165 right now and trying to gain weight via strength training and also wants to be at about 180 by the end of the year. So, naturally, a prop bet was born. Pretty simple, if I get to 180 and he doesn’t, I win $10k. If he gets to 180 and I don’t, he wins $10k. If we both succeed or both fail then neither of us owe anything. There are a few stipulations like we can’t purposely do unhealthy things to gain or lose the weight. The whole point is for both of us to get healthier.

I need to lose a little over a pound a week for the rest of the year so I don’t have much room for error. I honestly think I will succeed in this if I stay motivated, and that’s the whole point of the bet. I don’t know if $10k is enough to keep me motivated for 5 months. I probably will either get there with a few pounds to spare, or miss by like 20 pounds. I just don’t foresee any scenario where I am within a couple pounds but don’t get there because by that point I will be so motivated to finish.

In my mind, I think I’m a favorite but definitely not by much. A lot depends on how well I start. If I go a month breaking even, I have no chance. Vancouver has so much good food which makes it even harder to be reasonable with my food choices and portions. Also, I’m really lazy about exercising (as in pretty much never) so I definitely need to start doing something about that.

Either way, it should be fun to blog about my progress or lack thereof! I really do hope we both win but I wouldn’t be too hurt if I win and he has to ship me $10k. Anyone else want to take some action? Maybe I can make up some of that money I burned at the WSOP!
