This isn’t your granddaddy’s Omaha Hi/Lo. How do you exponentially increase the fun factor and sweeten the action? Lift the restrictions on betting limits, which transformed classic Omaha Hi/Lo into a frenetic, no-limit fracas with the ability to bomb it all-in at any time. No-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo fosters an environment of instant gratification for jaded thrill-seekers, while adding panache to an otherwise ordinary event that is typically comprised of surly nut peddlers. Welcome to the postmodern version of what used to be snooze-inducing “olde 08.”
Ami “UhhMee” Barer won his second-career SCOOP title just six days earlier. He advanced to another final table in Event #39-H, yet fell short in his quest for SCOOP title #3. Instead, Australia’s mustafa stepped out of the shadows and pulled off a come-from-behind victory to defeat Demonic16 heads-up to become the newest SCOOP champion.
SCOOP Event #39-H $2,100 NL Omaha Hi/Lo attracted 130 runners. They boosted the prize pool to $260,000. Only the top 15 places paid out, with $65,000 set aside to the eventual champion.
Team Poker Stars Pros George Danzer and Nacho Barbero both took shot at a SCOOP title, along with PokerStars Team Online nkeyno. Out of those three familiar faces, only Danzer advanced to the money.
George Danzer cashed in 12th place. Danzer got it all-in with 9♦ 6♦ 5♣ 4♣ versus Demonic16’s K♣ Kâ™ Q♣ J♥ . The board ran out Qâ™ 6â™ 6♣ K♦ Q♥ and although Danzer flopped a set of sixes, Demonic16 won the pot with a full house. Danzer hit the road in 12th place and just missed another final table appearance by a couple of spots.

The board finished up K♣ 5♥ 4♦ 8â™ 3♣ . 011PokerDr could only muster up a pair of treys and a 8-5-4-3-A low. However, Demonic16 scooped after rivering a six-high straight and the Wheel nut low. Canada’s 011PokerDr became the first player to exit the final table and collected $7,150.00 for ninth place.
römpsä eliminated in 8th place

TheTakeover: J♣ 9♣ 9♥ 2♣
römpsä: 8♥ 10♠5♠4♥
TheTakeover was ahead with a set of nines, but römpsä held an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the Q♥ and römpsä turned a straight, but the river was the J♦ and TheTakeover rivered a boat. Without a qualifying low, TheTakeover won the high end with a full house — Jacks full of Nines — which beat out römpsä’s Queen-high straight. Finland’s römpsä went busto in eighth place, which paid out $9,100.00.
Giffordonian eliminated in 7th place
Very next hand… mustafa min-raised to 5,000, Giffordonian shoved for 26,132, and mustafa called.

mustafa: A♣ K♠9♥ 2♥
The board ran out K♦ 9♣ 3♥ A♥ 6♣ . Without a qualifying low, Giffordonian’s pair of Aces lost to mustafa’s two pair — Aces and Kings. Giffordonian hit the virtual rail in seventh place, which paid out $11,050.00.
With six to go, Demonic16 was out in front with 207K, and a trio was battled for the short stack (mustafa, TheTakeover and PearlJammer) with approximately 75K.

UhhMee eliminated in 5th place
UhhMee’s search for a third SCOOP title came to an end when he went busto in fifth. TheTakeover limped from the small blind, UhhMee shoved for 58,621, and TheTakeover called.
TheTakeover: A♥ 9â™ 4♣ 2â™
UhhMee: 6♦ 5♦ 4♠2♥
The board finished up K♣ J♥ 2♦ 10♥ 9♣ . Without a qualifying low, UhhMee could only mount a defense worth a pair of deuces, and TheTakeover dragged the pot with two pair — nines and deuces. For fifth place, Ami “UhhMee” Barer took home $16,900.00.
With four remaining, TheTakeover was out in front with 234K and mustafa clung to the short stack with 92.5K.
TheTakeover eliminated in 4th place
After a full level of inaction, TheTakeover’s big stack came under assault and he went from the big dog to the lil dog. Demonic16 min-raised to 80,000, TheTakeover bombed it all-in for 101,555, and Demonic16 called.

cutitup eliminated in 3rd place
cutitup open-shoved for 72,903 with A♣ Qâ™ 7â™ 3♥ , and Demonic16 tried to pick him off with Q♥ Q♣ 4♣ 3♦ . The board finished up Q♦ 7♣ 5♥ 5♣ 10♥ . Demonic16 flopped a set of Queens and turned a boat. cutitup’s two pair was not enough to stave off elimination. For third place, Sweden’s cutitup earned $33,800.00.
HEADS-UP: Demonic16 (United Kingdom) vs. mustafa (Australia)
Seat 2: Demonic16 (529,298)
Seat 4: mustafa (120,702)
With two to go, Demonic16 held a sizable advantage over mustafa.
Demonic16 eliminated in 2nd place; mustafa wins SCOOP Event #39-H!
Heads-up lasted roughly 30 minutes. Demonic16 landed a few early body blows, but he could not put away mustafa early. Instead, mustafa launched a successful counter-attack. When faced with the first potential do-or-die situation of heads-up, mustafa doubled up and stole away the lead. mustafa scored a decisive pot worth approximately 420K after turning a full house with K♦ K♥ 8â™ 6â™ vs. Demonic16’s 9♣ 8♦ 4â™ 2♣ . After successfully avoiding a bustout, mustafa turned the tables on Demonic16 and seized nearly a 2-1 chip lead.
On the final hand… mustafa limped for 2,500 and Demonic16 checked from the big blind. The flop was J♦ 6â™ 2â™ and fireworks ensued: Demonic16 checked, mustafa jammed all-in for 426,224, and Demonic16 called all-in for 212,526.
Demonic16: A♥ J♥ 6♣ 6♦
mustafa: A♠J♠9♥ 2♦
Demonic16 flopped a set of sixes, yet mustafa flopped two pair and picked up a nut-flush draw. The A♦ fell on the turn and the Qâ™ spiked on the river. Sans a qualifying low, mustafa rivered a flush to win the pot and the tournament. Demonic16’s two pair were no good and that’s all she wrote.
For a gutsy runner-up performance, U.K.’s Demonic16 earned a $44,200.00 payday.
Congrats to Australia’s mustafa for winning SCOOP Event #36-H. First place paid out $65,000.00 plus a cool SCOOP champion’s watch.
